Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

1 Answer

My Neptune front loading washer makes lots of noise duing the spin cycle. My repair guy said the bearings are probably going out. $200 for replacing bearings which is not recommended by Maytag. They want to replace the tub and bearings for $450.00. Ever heard of this? Also have the mold around the door.

I have a maytag neptune, model # mah3000aww. Its making a loud howling sound during spin cycle.

It sounds like the drum bearings may need replacing. This is not a small job, so be sure of what you're doing before you attempt to fix it yourself. Please feel free to get back to me for instructions on replacing the seal and bearings.

Maytag Neptune - MAH5500BWW makes loud, loud noise during spin cycle. What parts are necessary to repair the unit? I assume there are bearings and seals needed. Thank you.

My washer is making a horrible noise when it goes into the spin cycle. It sounds like it is about to explode.

The bearings on those washers go bad and the washer gets very loud during the spin cycle. It probably won't explode but for what it might cost to fix it you might want to blow it up yourself

Maytag Neptune front load washer model MAH3000AW, load during spin cycle

YOU MEAN LOUD DURING SPIN CYCLE? IF THAT SO, WHAT KIND OF NOISE? BANGING NOISE MEANS YOU HAVE UNBALANCED LOAD OR ONE OF THE SUSPENSION IS BAD OR FELL OFF. GRINDING NOISE MEANS YOU HAVE A BAD TUB BEARING, TO REPLACE THAT, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR TUB ASSEMBLY, VERY COSTLY. MEANS YOU PROBABLY BE BUYING A NEW WASHER.

I have a maytag neptuen washer purchased in 1999. During spin cycle is making a lot of noise and I have repair man check and he said it would be over $500 to fix as it's the bearing and the drum would need...

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old
man who has been making his own repairs for about
50 years. Therefore the washer ID doesn't mean
much to me. It's been about 55 years since I had
experience with front load washers. However I can
suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where
they have very good trouble shooting and repair
information on front loaders. I think you'll find what
you need there. Good luck with it.

When the washer is in spin cycle it makes screehing noise!

You peobably need bearings... See www.neptunebearing.com for replacement bearings and they also rent a special tool designed for the Neptune bearings and it includes use of a DVD that shows you how to disassemble Neptune, replace bearings and install the seal kit.

Neptune washer load noise.

I do know there is a set of bearings on the drum drive shaft. There is an inner and an outer. Some places mention that these bearings are no longer available. However, I found on ebay a gentlemen who sells these bearing and the seals in a kit for about $80.00. It comes with instructions on how to repair and will save a lot of money. I have done this once already to the same washer, now I am doing it again. If you search on ebay maytag neptune parts you will find his listing for a bearing kit. He also describes the jet engine noise.

No, I'll tell you before forking out $ $ for some bad news. The noise is your bearing. You have to replace the outer tub .Its not going to be repaired any other way.The idiots who designed this washer made this a non servicable bearing. The labor is high not to mention the outer tub is also.REPLACE THE OUTER TUB.
