dear Redniten: Thanks for the response. When the panel was opened, there is small circuit board on top and another part with multiple terminals with wires attached. It seems to me this is the control wires from the thermostat controlling the condenser.
    Thanks again!

The red usually goes to the R terminal and it depends on whether it's just A/C or heatpump as to where the white wire goes. If its just A/C then the white is common. Also if it's just A/C the red and white may just connect to the coil for the contactor. If it is a heat pump then they will probably go to a circuit board. Red to the R terminal and White to the W1 terminal. Let me know what you find.

Sorry if I am answering this 2x. If it is just A/C then the red and white probably go to the coil for the contactor that cuts on the fan and compressor. If it is a heat pump then they probably go to a circuit board. Red to R terminal and White to W1 terminal. Let me know what you find.

2002 4 ton Bryant air conditioner shuts off, fan still runs but not cooling is problem in the controls in the attic or in the AC unit or both?

With a non heat pump it is a simple 24 volt AC control circuit. In the attic there is a relay that is actuated via the fan control wire directly from the thermostat. On the thermostat there is an auto/man switch that controls the fan. Manual the fan runs all the time. Auto fan turns on and off with the outside compressor.

If the system is not calling for cool and the fan continues to run the fan relay is sticking. common problem. Sometimes after running for several days the relay will stop sticking if not, replace relay.

If the system is calling for cool and the compressor stops I would still expect the fan to run until thermostat tells the A/C to off. Some compressor units include a safety switch or high-pressure cut-out switch A blocked internal valve bad control board or external fan in outside unit defective no air flow in outside unit.
High pressure cut out not good,

Suggest turning temp max cool and observe. If acceptable cool and the compressor runs without interruption all is good, except for the blower in the attic. Safely check relay in attic blower circuit.

Hope this helps.

BRYANT MODEL 561CJ060-H THERMOSTAT NO POWER TO IT BUT POWER TO A/C UNIT

You may have a problem with the transformer inside the air Handler. You may need to check your breaker to the unit if it is a gas furnace make sure it is plugged in to the wall outlet. If it is electric you will be on a breaker inside your breaker panel. The transformer is a 120 volt primary to a 24 Volt secondary. I hope this helps.

I have a Bryant 561CJ060-A air conditioning unit. When I turn the A/C on the compressor makes a hissing sound for a short time and then I can smell something like rubber burning down near the compressor. ...

turn power off to the unit and take the black cover off of where the wires hook up to the compressor check for loose connectors pluged onto the compresser termanals and for any leaks

We have a Bryant unit and the air compessor outside still runs when the airhandler shuts off.

This could be one of many problems which could include a contactor malfunction, thermostat malfunction or some type of short in the control circuit.
Unless you are comfortable with electricity and the use of a multimeter and wiring diagrams/schematics, I suggest you call a professional regarding this issue.

Ac compressor runs, no blower fan. fan and capacitor ok. bryant

so the outside compressor and fan are working good ? If the fan and capacitor check out good then check that the wire from the thermostat for the fan (usually green and tied to grey on a bryant) has voltage and if it does the control board needs replaced because it contains the fan relay

Change out problem

AIR HANDLERS DO NOT ENERGIZE REVERSING VALVE , THE THERMOSTAT DOES THE JOB THROUGH THE O  OR B TERM TO THE OUTSIDE UNIT. IF YOU HOOK UP TO O TERM AND HEAT COMES ON WHEN YOU SET AC ON THEN SWITCH TO B TERM ON STAT. YOU SHOULD HAVE O TERM ON CONDENSER OUTSIDE AND YOU USE ORANGE WIRE IF YOU HAVE ONE. IF NOT USE UNUSED WIRE IN 6 WIRE STAT HARNESS.

AC is set on cool & furnace comes on blowing hat air

My first thought is a bad thermostat or control board or maybe something is wired wrong. If all that seems to be working I would look at the outside unit. if that condenser fan motor is not operating then you wont get any cooling. look for a swollen capacitor. Read more

Bryant Legacy Line air conditioning not blowing cool air..

Your outdoor condenser is in heat mode. Check the wires on the thermostat. Sounds like a small wiring problem and nothing else. Good luck. Please keep me posted as to you progress.
