Question about Oregon Scientific DS6618 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Battery not charging

I am not sure what is goin on with the thing. My DS6618 piece of **** isn't charging when I plug it into my PC. It said to do that in the manual. I have the right driver installed, checked that a couple times. I would just like to know how to get it working right so that I can start taking pictures on it.

Page 34 of cameras manual calls the battery non-replace lithium ion. looks like you cannot replace the battery. Sorry about that link to manual below: http://data.manualslib.com/pdf2/31/3027/302629-oregon_scientific/ds6618.pdf?debf6785c55201b5feec570a6c8e6af2&take=binary 3_6_2014_6_00_31_am.png

Can the battery be changed on the ds6618

You might be better sending it in to the manufacturer.
I have tried on mine and cracked the hell out of it.

Just purchased the DS6618 new off the shelf where it sat for 6-7 years. Battery will not charge. Do I need to replace teh battery? What battery does it take? Who can replace the battery?

Usually a battery that hasn't been used or charged for a long time ... may not be able to hold a charge anymore. So, if you have "plugged" it in (to the USB link/power source) to charge it (for about 24 hours or more), and it still isn't charged, then the battery needs to be replaced.
Unfortunately, the battery isn't easily (consumer) replaceable ... i.e. only the company does it.

Descargas las fotos en computador con windows 7 y como la recargo y como se que esta tomando la foto

Install the DRIVERS for WINDOWS. Keep in mind that the OS in this drivers work in Windows 98 (including the second edition), Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home Edition.

Additional details about format pics, charging with USB cable (page 17), and transfer pics from camera/pc (page 11) could fiind in the DS6618 Owners Manual (PDf format).

Hope helps (remember to rate this answer).

I've been struggling with the same problem and could not figure out what the heck was goin on. When I would connect the camera to the charger the red light (indicating charging) would come on for like maybe 10 minutes. I could take pics for like 30 minutes then the camera would lose juice. Also, the green battery icon (indicating a full charge) would only stay green for like 1 minute then it would go right to the yellow battery icon (half charge). After a couple of weeks the red light indicater would only come on for like a second. I played around with mine and realized that the battery terminals were not connecting to the power source inside the battery holder. Basically the battery wasn't snug enough inside the battery holder to connect to the power. When I pushe the battery in with my finger the red light indicater would stay on. So I took a little piece of paper (folded slightly) and wedge it in the battery holder and closed the battery holder cover. Hope this makes sense! (And helps.)
