SOURCE: i have a dyson DC18 slim all floors i have no

I realize this questioned was posted >1 year ago, but in the event you still have the poor suction/wheezing or if anyone else has this issue, here's what worked for us.
Use a plumbers sink snake to unclog the "pipe". I thought it was the pipe on the right hand side (when you're looking at it) which needed to be unplugged. There was a little in that size, however we retrieved the nastiest "hairball" out of the left hand side (when you're looking at it) and after removing that, and re-testing, the suction was incredible. In addition, the "wheezing" noise was no longer there.
Good luck

Cannot reconect hose at base dyson dc8

Hi Joei, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC18's hose should clip back onto the machine without difficulty. It just pushes into place, and you should hear and feel a click as it locks securely. The extension tube (wand?) sticks and is very difficult to remove from the body of the vacuum. I have taken it off a few times, cleaned it, even sprayed WD40 down the plastic tubing, but it still keeps...

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC18. From what you've described, it sounds as though the hose may be twisted when you replace the wand on the cleaner after use. Checking that the hose is straight before you replace the wand should prevent this from happening. However, if you've tried this and find that the wand still requires a lot of force to remove, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting checks with you and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON.

Kind regards,

Jack

Dyson Slim - suction is fine on bottom, but pipe has no suction at all. No blockage. When I remove pipe from the back at the bottom, I can see round white plastic thing in the opening. Right before it...

There is a diverter valve on those that changes suction from the hose to the floor when you pull the handle back. It usually makes the machine bind and not stand up. ( exactly what you are describing ) You need to take it to your local vac shop and they can fix it for you. The part that fell out was the retaining disc and a screw went in it to hold the diverter valve spring in place. Doubful if you can repair this on your own. It will not make since how it should go back if you've never seen it before.

The brushes are turning but there is not suction

how old is the unit? Check the filters for clogs. if you dont find a clog in the hose, cyclone, or filters then its most likely the valve in the neck of the vacuum. There is a small clip that switches this valve from attachments to nozzle when the handle release is pressed. the clip always breaks off leaving the valve stuck in one position. unfortunately dyson requires you to replace the whole cradle assembly

Hi my dyson dc18 has great suction from wand but when you got to use the vac for floors little suction but wand still got suction even while vacuming floors is it suposed to stop suction from wand

My Dyson dc18 had the same symptoms. The wand worked well and the floor bar had no suction. After removing pieces & shoving my fingers into the machine (no blockage) I found the suction pipe rotates between two positions (floor and wand). It looks like a piece of plastic broke on the outside housing, so it no longer rotates positions when the wheels are raised or lowered. My son found we can move the suction by sliding a finger into the mechanism behind the wheel cover, and rotating the plastic piece clock-wise or counter clock-wise until it locks into position. It's a big pain but it works for now. I wish I could find a replacement piece online. Patty
