Your problem is in the video section of the motherboard. With the eraser end of a pencil touch the components, one at a time, in the video section by slightly wiggling the eraser and checking for a picture to come up on the screen. If needed, you can place a large mirror in front of tv to see picture while you are behind the television. If the picture comes up then the component you are wiggling has a loose solder joint and just needs to be resoldered. Hope this helps

How do i fix my crt sharp 21G2-s tv whose screen is total black when switched on?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. How to test Flyback Transformer Without taking it off the Board

a) Basically it has to be acted upon by a supply voltage of at least 95V

to work.

sample picture:

b) Of course, assuming the horizontal deflection oscillator works, same

with the horizontal drive and horizontal output transistor

It would generate output voltages on the secondary terminals

and 200V line will be active sending voltages to the

Video Drive circuits. Of course high voltage will be generated

ranging to at least 30 KV and there will be voltages on the G2 of the CRT.

c) The easiest test point to look when it is oscillating, is the CRT heater

voltage, the heater lit when flyback is good ( mostly at night times when it

is dark ) and you can hear sounds, too ( if speaker is connected).

• Heater : marked with letter H and H1

• Green Arrow for the G2 voltage

d) Having a B+ voltage reading of 75 V or lesser ( primary pins )

indicates a bad or partially shorted flyback, assuming your

horizontal output transistor and power supply are good & OK.

Black screen, sound ok.flyback lines when G2 turned up

Never tune G2 voltage too up to a state, to appear retrace lines on screen. it is bad. It might make the CRT damaged. Check the video output card, and the voltages comes to it. This card can be located at the neck of the picture tube itself, will directly plugged to its back of the neck. Reduce the G2 voltage, in such a way that, there is no retrace lines appear. Be careful. To get some details, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up older posts

Hi. It seems that the g2 voltage of the picture tube is too high, resulting in a white screen, often with white horizontal lines. The g2 (= second grid) voltage is derived from the flyback high voltage. The voltage divider is mostly integrated in the flyback trafo housing.(including the adjustment knobs). A failure in this divider may lead to this defect. The static you hear may come from sparking in the divider. The flyback trafo is soldered onto the main printed cirrcuit board. Sometimes, one of the pins sits loose in the soldering pads.
Turn on the set and observe for any sparking around the entire flyback circuitry, and, or the flyback trafo itself
The screen turns black after a while, as a too high beamcurrent is detected. The set disables the flyback. Stand-by blinks meaning that there is a fault condition.
Be carefull with the high voltages. The flyback voltage is very high (20-30 Kilovolts !) and may be lethal !!

My tv wont turn on the light on the power button blinks and the lamp turns on in the back but the screen dont light up

check if crt screen voltage correct (g2) try to adjust screen settings at flyback transformer and monitor if g2 response, some model if vertical ckt down monitor have black signal only can determine if screen adjustment knob in flyback transformer turn increase. vertical line appear.

TV SCREEN FLICKER

If this is a tube tv. It could be have something to do with the G2 voltage, could be the g2 filter capacitor.Or the screen and focus adjustment on flyback is giving up. But check for dirt built up. If focus and screen is faulty best is to replace the entire flyback.

If your not inclined in electronics better to have it check by the expert. High voltage inside.

I paid 9.95 for assistance and did not get a responce but charged

From your description it sounds like G2 voltage on the green picture tube is too high.
Are you confident about adjusting it yourself? There are high voltages in places which can kill. I will not take any responsibility of you getting an electric shock so I suggest calling in a qualified TV technician.

Any TV technician should be able adjust this voltage and it should not take long to do it unless the cases are hard to remove and hard to access the flyback transformer where the G2 (screen) adjustment is located.

Otherwise it may be a faulty green picture tube and this is expensive as you need to get the tube replaced.

Hope this helps

Trintron tv

Dear Lammy,
Turn the G2 control up, or clockwise just a hair, and see if the piture returns. The G2 or screen control is one of two controls located on the flyback, or high voltage transformer.
