EPSON 2200 - Waste Ink Pad Replacement

Can I replace the waste ink pads in the epson 2200 myself?
On other forums, other people have mentioned washing the waste ink pads under cold water and letting them dry out and then putting them back in.

How do I get them out?!
I've reset the counter, but am worried that the waste ink pads will overflow if I keep printing.
thanks.

You can replace the pads yourself.... I wouldn't really mess with it though. There are other ways Google search "Waste Ink Epson 2200" to see how to setup an external tank.. I have mine setup this way and its been no problem.... If you're set on taking them out remove the screws from the sides and middle and the bottom will drop away and reveal the pads.

Re: printer end of service life. There is an "Epson Stylus C60 Printer Information Page", that also includes the C42 series, that you can view at http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/C60.html . It does have a section on the left side you can click-on, titled WASTE INK PAD SERVICING and also a section titled HOUSING REMOVAL. That reference material may be of some help to you as a guide to your C42+ model, if you want to try the needed servicing. However, you will still need the actual reset procedure, to clear that "Waste Ink Counter" that is causing that service error condition [like the SSC Service Utility]...JUST SO YOU WILL KNOW: If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. You can see exploded parts diagrams for most epson ink jet printers and can also check on possible parts ordering, by Compass Micro Inc, at http://www.compassmicro.com/parts_select.cfm . Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads, by holding them under running cold water. Then they simply dry them out and reinstall them back into their printer. The choice on what to actually do, is yours to make. I would at least recommend getting that waste ink counter reset procedure and performing it first, to make sure your printer will then work.
Thanks and..Good Luck!
Pls rate me.

Ink light and paper feed light are flashing alternatively, printer not responding at all !

I just had this same problem, and came here to figure out what to do about it. Turns out I had the CD/DVD tray in the out position, so all I had to do was flip the switch to stow it and the flashing lights stopped. Maybe it will work for you as well.

Ink means pad for waste ink nearly full. Epson program read and count all waste ink from head cleaning and ink charge. Next, you need reset waste ink counter, and replace or washing pad. You can extend outlet pipe to outside of printer, so next time you don't need replace pad again.

You don't need to buy the pad. Just wash with hot water. Is there a message to replace waste ink pad?. You need to reset waste ink counter. Use SSC utility to reset it. Extend outlet pipe to outside. You don't need clean pad again. If you wish to wash or replace pad, you must open case and diasemble all mechanics. Find SSC at indoreset.blogspot.com. And printer diagram at printersiam.com
