Question about Apple iPod shuffle Second Gen. Silver (1 GB) MP3 Player (MA564LL/A)

1 Answer

Ipod 2nd generation shuffle

Have tried to reset and restore ipod, when I try to sync my ipod it comes up with - The ipod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found. I have nothing on it and cannot put anything on it. I spoke to Apple who gave me details for regsvr32 files to be updated but that didnt work. I have changed computer and gone from Windows 2000 to Windows XP but moved music file across ok. Any ideas as it is about to go in the bin.

Use iPod Reset Utility to restore the following iPod models back to their factory settings when iTunes is unable to do so. The process completely erases all music and data and reinstalls the iPod software version listed below:

My apple ipod has a restoration problem.

you have to use ipod reset utility.you can download it here..

install it and just follow on screen instruction. after the process is completed, sync your shuffle to itunes.
after that your ipod shuffle would work as normal.
my concern is, dont ever try formatting again using format utility of windows, you might get the shuffle corrupted permanently.

Here's simple steps to cure the problem if your iPod shuffle won't play and does that green-yellow-green-yellow-green-yellow blinking thing:

  1. Plug in iPod shuffle
  2. You'll notice the "Podcasts" play list under your iPod volume.
  3. Delete the "Podcasts" playlist.
  4. ITunes will re-sync
  5. Unmount the iPod Shuffle and everything should be fine.

If that doesn't work try the link below. It's for the iPod Shuffle (1st generation) restore utility.

Hope it helps.

Does not sync

I would go ahead and do a system restore - this is a separate method from the resetting all settings. The restore will delete all songs and hoepfully replace any key system files that may have been lost, just in case too many were loaded onto player initially.

There are also the 5 R's listed in the manual.
