Question about LG DR1F9H DVD Recorder
I had this problem, too, and I've seen a few others with it but never found the solution until tonight. The problem is with the p/scan button. Not the button itself, but the circuitry of it. Basically, it goes off whether or not you actually press the button, which is why the message keeps appearing after you hit cancel. Since the simplest solution is often the best, and since the problem is the button, get rid of the button.
Remove the front panel of the player (you'll probably have to unscrew the top of the metal case first) and find the p/scan button, and then find what connects the button to the circuits. On mine, the button was embedded directly into the circuit board, but on others it's connected by wires. If it's got wires, cut them, or if it's directly on the board, rip it out. Once you break the button, the message will no longer appear.

Had the same problem. Found it was due to faulty button connection on front panel of player. There's Progressive Scan button there that for some reason starts sending signal like it's constantly being pushed. To fix this, need to open player and cut wire that's connected to that button (or replace the button if you want to get fancy) Sounds tough, but it's not that hard. Plus the player is pretty much useless otherwise, so not much to lose. Best of luck.
