You have a ground loop, most probably. Try grounding your receiver by running a copper wire to the screw on the electrical outlet.

Smoked a card or module on top left hand side of reciever and none of my speakers on surround sound and throughout the house work.Is it worth fixing or get a new receiver?

I think one of the amplifier channels is blown. The repair is about $120. Check prices for new receivers and decide. Thanks.

My avr 300 is making a humming sound through all speakers. It seems to be a little worse on the directv input but humming all the time. Is there a fix or a common problem that I am missing??

Remove all the input cables and see if the speakers still hum. If they do you have a problem in the amplifier, probably a bad capacitor. Remove the power and open the unit by removing the case. Should be screws on the back and side. Find where the power cord comes in and follow it to the board. This is the power supply section. Look at all the different sized cylinders (electrolytic capacitors) in that area for bulging. Replace any which look suspicious. Also inspect all the electrolytics throughout the unit for bulging, replacing as necessary. If this does not solve the problem you will probably need to take it to a tech for repair. If the unit quits humming after removing all the inputs you have a cable or cables with a broken ground. Get a known good cable, preferably new, and check the unit. If it still works OK, replace each input until the hum comes back. That will be the bad cable. Toss it and keep going until you get all the bad cables weeded out. Let me know if you need anymore help.

I think you mean the display only shows Front >>Channels<< available.

Humming noise through surround sound

This a problem of input grounding,the cable input is already loose or crack solder that why you hear a hum or distorted sound because not properly grounded it is a loose contact already thats why also is need to warm up and it will come.First change the cables with a new one with identical size and value then if problem still exist open the back cover ,when open look for the cable input connection parts joints reworks or resolder all soldered joints there .Then checks if it works then cover the unit.If you have no knowledge of electronics dont attempt to open to avoid electric shock.Find a electronics repairman or bring this to a authorized electronics repair shop maybe it cost you only $50.

Good luck;

Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.

Sub woofer has a hum

I have found that with other appliances running, or a busy circuit, I have the same problem. Try to turn everything else in the house off and check again....A/C are often culprits. You can buy a line isolator for the plug, although they are just more money to spend. If this doesn't work, well, it could be a crappy home theaater receiver. It happens

Acoustimass Subwoofer has a low "hummm" sound when turned on.

Sounds like an inadequate ground wire in the signal cable. You may have to replace the cable between the reciever and bass module. It also, however, may be IN the bass or reciever module.

I have an Harman kardon receiver (avr 310) it only plays in left and rigth speaker with surround off . I try everything to make it work in other but it can't .

Surround only works from a surround source such as Pro Logic.
If you are useing a regular stereo source with surround off, the sound will come only from L/R speakers (and sub woofer if used)
