Question about Xerox Phaser 6250 Laser Printer

1 Answer

My Phaser 8560 printer prints pages of code half the time I try to print. I am running osx 10.6, i have downloaded all the driver updates available on xerox.com and it still has not solved the problem. The frustrating thing is sometimes it will print normally, no problems, and if i try to print again, it will just print code. So far I have been unable to isolate what is causing this?!

Are you canceling print jobs? That may sometimes cause for the printer to print those codes.

If a Phaser 8560 is connected to your Mac via USB 2.0, the Mac doesn't know what device is connected to that USB (as for all USB ports) until the device (the printer) communicates to the Mac that it is a postscript printer---which the 8560 is apparently not doing upon warm-up (a common problem). The Mac then sends the first print job without the first line header %!PS telling the printer to unscramble the postscript into its normal text or picture state, so it prints the raw stream. When you cancel that garbage job, then the printer communicates to the Mac, so the next print jobs are ok. I'm having the same problem, and investigating. Meanwhile, try setting the printer USB port from AutoSelect to Postscript (Printer Setup/Connection Setup/USB Setup/Page Description Language/) . Then, just above Page Description Language, reset Wait Timeout from 30 to 90 seconds. C. Orth, 9/01/2010

Xerox Phaser 8400 prints pdfs in half page

I've seen this issue on some of my other Xerox machines (not the 8400 specifically). 9 times out of 10 the solution is to update both the printer driver to the newest version, as well as updating Adobe Reader to the newest version.

Here are the links to each:

My xerox phaser 8560 is printing muted color

First off on your screen access troubleshooting, and perform the remove light strips and also remove smears and skips.
Next go to Xerox.com, under support and drivers enter 8560 in the search box. then go to the support page.
You want to look up the procedures for TEC color correction. And follow those steps.
If you are using a generic ink then, all bets are off in getting true color reproduction.

My xerox Phaser 8560 is printing green? It was working fine but now All my pictures have a green hue. Why

I need to know something first. If you print a test page, an internal page, a confirmation page, menu page, etc, does the machine give you a green hue ?
Have you tried to shut the printer down and allow it to reboot? There is tec color correction on your print driver properties. You can try adjustments with that.
But first let me know if the internal prints are ok , then lets go from there.

Phaser 8560 not printing RED correctly

Even though Media Sciences ink is not compatable and is subject to burning and clogging your printhead, the most telling symptom you listed is the red shavings. This indicates the ink is not releasing from the drum properly. This version of solid ink has a problem with the cams on the maintenance camshaft cracking and this causes the maintenance kit roller to not oil the drum properly. You will also hear an odd noise either grinding, groaning or a slight tearing sound. This requires a technician to resolve as replacing the camshaft is not an enduser job. Print quality issues are either the printhead or related to the camshaft failing, there are a few others but they wouldn't exhibit the symptoms you listed.

Someone installed the "Printing Scout" on this computer. You may need to uninstall or check all the settings in the printer driver. I'm not really familiar with Macs but I know the 8560 inside out, upside down, and backwards.

Xerox Phaser 8560 Waste INk

Although I agree totally, the anwer is no. Althought it appears black, take a piece of it an use it like a crayon. It is a combination of all the color inks combined. So if you take and rub it on a piece of paper it will be a purple color. So threfore would not create proper colors.
Now to save ink, Do not turn the printer off at all. Just let it use its own sleep mode. The power consumption is intermittent to keep the print head warm and uses about the same ammount of electricity as your refridgerator light bulb. The reason being, when you turn off a solid ink printer, it purges the print head of ALL old ink and dumps it into the waste tray. That is part of those weird noises you hear when you cycle up the machine, one is a compressor emptying the print head.
Also, honestly, althogh I am not sure what you are using the machine for. But you would be wise to put that product on a pay per page maintenance agreement. That includes all ink and all service. Some of the parts for those printers are super expensive.
I will say one thing you can do with that waste ink, if you know anyone who has children, they can use them as purple crayons..

Phaser 8560 won't communicate with me or my computer

What you can try is making sure the ink sticks are fully in the loaded position. They may be keeping that cover from closing totally.
The other thing is the actuator on that cover, may have briken off and is not properly actuating the sensor that tells the machine the cover is closed.
Make sure the ink is fully forward, and look at the covers for some area of beoken plastic.
