I would actually try checking your system components are installed in the right way. then, I would take the battery off and put it back the next day. then,i would replace the cpu.
However, socket 478 motherboards are Very Cheap nowadays so i wouldnt lose sleep over it.. However, you should keep trying and maybe it'll fire up someday... someday.. Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Voltage not going to cpu

Not sure just what you mean. If your computer is plugged into the wall and the power is turned on, the power supply should be on and the cooling fan turning. Also, the CPU fan should be turning and the hard drive should spin up.
Note that the power supply is the main component that must be supplying the power. If you don't hear or see the fan turning in the power supply and the little power light on the front of the computer does not light, replace the power supply.
If your power supply is running and nothing else is running, I would unhook all devices and leave just the CPU and video and memory in. If you get nothing, then the motherboard is probably bad.

How do i tell if my acer computer has a bad power supply or motherboard, without buying a new power supply first?

The chicken and the egg comes to mind here!
Does the cpu fan come on? CPU 5 Volts is on
Can you open and close the DVD draw? 5 Volts is on
Does the Hard drive spin up? 12 Volts is on

Do the lights work on the keyboard? POST has completed.
Does the hard drive light work? CPU is on

Not sure what else to suggest but Power Supplies are not that expensive and fairly universal.

Hope that helped.

I have a refurbished ibm netvista. when i turn it on, the cpu fan will start to spin for a few seconds, then i'll hear a weak beep, then the fan will stop spinning (power off), then the fan will...

Remove the hard drive and RAM. See what it does. It should go into BIOS and complain. If it doesn't you have a motherboard issue as it won't POST.

Mobo will not power on if two sata drives are connected . The fans on system and cpu will not spin. System will power on and fans will spin if second hard drive is unplugged and system will post and boot...

good day sir, hi, its either your motherboard does not support 2 sata drives simultaneously or your motherboard sata port is bugged.
Choices:
1. get a bigger hard drive
2. use a PCI to SATA card for your extra SATA hard drive.
3. replace your motherboard.

Hope this may help.

I have a Emachine desktop T6216 computer, that when i turn it on the fan comes on for about 5 seconds shuts off and power-up. Now when i turn it on the fan just runs and it doesn't power-up orupload

It is possible that the hard drive has crashed. If the power supply starts up but nothing else then it is either the mother board or the hard drive. If you take off the case and the CPU fan is spinning, then it is likely the hard drive. Your best bet is to take it into a shop if you are not comfortable with swapping out the hard drive.

Gateway T-1625 Laptop won't boot up - screen blank

Yes, if the CPU/motherboard will not POST (Power On Self Test), then changing the CPU is the only thing that you have not tried.

Laptop fails to boot. no post beeps no video Power light comes on Hard Drive light comes on briefly and the Drive can be heard spinning up then stopping. Laptop was originally purchased in North Korea

Clean first its ram module edge connector with soft eraser. But disengaged first its battery, power source and completely shutdown.

Then put it back and try to boot. If this doesn't help let me know . Leave a comment.

Compaq Presario 4400us

Either the new power supply you purchased is not functioning correctly. But, assuming it is now that you are getting some form of power to your PC, it is very likely the motherboard. Whatever fried your old power supply (or it could have just been the power supply itself) most likely fried your motherboard in the process. Probably not the CPU since the MB can't even post.

I have a Boot Problem with my INTEL P4 3.0Ghz. 800Mhz FSB,1M L2 Cache, Socket 478 CPU

I have experienced something similar with my new Core2Duo processor and a fairly new Socket 775 processor. Troubleshooting it led me to believe the CPU simply wasn't compatible with the motherboard. Although it's a shot in the dark, I suggest that you try out some of the following: - Did you try pulling out the graphics card to see if you got it to POST then? The graphics card or the monitor may need replacing. - Did you remove the RAM? - Are you sure all cables are attached properly? - Try to take out the CPU, talk to a friend with a socket 478 motherboard and replace his CPU with your CPU. Does it work now? If yes, motherboard needs to be replaced.
