Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Screen is compressed both horizional and vertical

Have audio, under the options menu with the Wii system you can select either standard or HDTV for the video options. System was on standard when I opened this menu suspect I selected HDTV. Is there a way to go back to factory settings and re-start system over? I do have an HD TV and was using the standard connections that come with the Wii system. Prior to entering this menu area had both audio and video.

Hi Rod,
If you can still see/read what's happening on the screen, go back to the Wii Options screen, select "Wii Settings" on the right, click the Screen option, and make sure "Widescreen settings" match your TV (if in doubt, choose 4:3). Click confirm, then click "TV Resolution" and ensure it is on Standard 480i. With these settings, the Wii should be viewable on almost any TV.

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. Tv 27" has only half screen picture horizional I

Possible failure of the VERTICAL SECTION of the deflection circuit. It is possible that the areas related to the vertical circuit is checked , check for weak capacitors near the output vertical drive. Also a faulty vertical coil- deflection coil- can result in half picture.
A vertical signal test can confirm.

To connect two wii consoles

Hi arbazfar,

First off, you will need a Wi-Fi connection to hook-up your consoles.
- Select the Wii logo (lower-left corner of the main menu)
- Select "WII SETTINGS" , then "INTERNET OPTIONS" option , then "CONNECTION SETTINGS".
- Select one of the available selections and confirm the "WIRELESS CONNECTION" option.
- Select the "SEARCH FOR ACCESS POINT" ( the Wii console will now look for the best local Wi-Fi connections available).
- Pick your preferred access point and then save your settings (Wii will then test the connection and may ask you to perform an update - just press "YES")
-Go to the "ADDRESS BOOK" (from the Wii main menu under the Wii Message Board). You should see a Friend Code on Page 1. Share your code with a friend you wish to connect to.
-Once you already have the code, press "REGISTER" in the Address Book, select the WII OPTION and enter the Friend code.
For more readings regaring this matter, you may go to the attached link: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/getOnline/index.jsp
All the best to you. Hope to hear positive results.

I bought a used Wii and I cannot delete the previous owners name and system. How do you do it?

1. Turn your Wii on and wait for the main menu to load. Click the Wii Options button in the lower left of the screen.

2. Enter the "Wii Settings" menu by clicking button with the wrench icon. Scroll to the last page in the menu.

3. Choose "Format Wii System Memory" at the bottom portion of the screen. Read the warning and select "Format" to reset your Wii to its factory settings.

Wii console to Philips HDTV Connection not working

In order to use the 480p (HDTV/EDTV) resolution, you MUST be using the Wii Component Video Cable. Any other cable will not display the 480p resolution, you have use the 480i (Standard) instead. You can order the Wii Component Video Cable through Nintendo's Web site. Using that cable, you can select the 480p resolution. Hope this helps.

Wii VC games won't play on hdtv

I had the same Black Screen problem and I finally have a fix for it!

When using component video cables and a HDTV: Go into the Wii's system settings, under Screen, change TV Resolution to HDTV (480p) instead of Standard TV (480i) and change to Widescreen (16:9) under Widescreen Settings.

This worked for me, good luck!
