Question about Panasonic DVD-RV32 DVD Player

1 Answer

Player "reads" the DVD and then the display says "H07" and ends.

I tried a couple of different DVDs, thinking that might be the problem. Also, tried unplugging the player for several minutes and replugging it. It continues to come up "H07" after reading any DVD.

Hi there,

The "H07" is an error code, this particular error code refers to the dvd spindle drive motor. Effectively the spindle motor that spins the DVD isn't turning correctly and on occassion this can be that the spindle & bearings need lubricating due to partial siezure. But really this should only be done by somebody with a bit of technical know-how to avoid further damage to the machine or indeed an electrical injury to the person under taking the task. I can only suggest that you contact a Panasonic repair shop and to see if it is cost effective to repair.

Hope this helped,

James

HO7 means the traverse unit has failed or is in the process of failing completely. This unit contains the spindle motor and laser assembly all in one device block and really should be replaced by an authorised service agent. The cost of the device plus labour (if applicable) will vary from model to model, but you won't get much change from $200AUD. The motor is the part of the unit that fails first. I have never had a laser fail on me yet.

DVD won't play

Netflix doesn't know what they're talking about. I looked it up - your DVD player doesn't have an autoplay feature. Can you try the DVD on another DVD player. Computers DVD drives generally read them differently - and decode them differently, than a regular DVD player. Also, if your DVD drive is a writable drive, it will have a stronger laser than your DVD player. I think it's likely the disk is damaged, slightly. If you cleaned your DVD's laser, it might be able to read it well enough to play - or it might not. I started having problems like this with a few of my own DVDs before my DVD player's laser went out. Basically it's a combination of laser quality and disc quality. If it remains just this one disk, I'd suggest leaving it alone. But if you start running into this problem on other disks as well, you'll probably want to have the laser replaced in your DVD player.

Dvd rv32 keeps saying hot and wolnt play dvds

I think you mean the front display shows 'H07' which means the laser/spindle motor assembly (as one part - also known as a traverse unit) has failed. H07 is a common error code with the Panasonic series of DVD playback decks. Because the traverse unit is a multi-operation device, and because the player is a budget model, the repair/replacement of this part to restore your player back to fully functional condition as well as labour costs could prove expensive - hardly worthwhile. It seems Panasonic have been using substandard components within their products for years now, designed to fail just outside their minimum warranty period.

My Panasonic dvd-rv32 player (8 years old) functioned perfectly for last 8 years and I cannot get it to PLAY again. I inserted another DVD tonight (actually 3 DVD'S in case the DVD's were defective) and...

Spindle motor/laser assembly is faulty. This part is not repairable - it has to be replaced by an authorised service centre. It may not be economical via this route, since the unit is not a DVD recorder. H07 is an indication of the above issue. Cheaper to buy a new DVD player or recorder than trying to get the faulty one repaired outside warranty.

The dvd player displays "no disc" sometimes.

In your entertainment center there maybe a very low level vibration interrupting the dvd lasers ability to track the dvd's.You should try using a rubber damping pad under the player or putting noise damping feet on the the player. This should stabillize the player and let the unit work correctly Hope this helps you with your problem.

Error Message H07

You can reset this fault by holding in the reverse, pause, and the on-off button, all at the same time. If it comes back then the spindle motor is the bad componet, and unless you know how to disasemble a mechanism for a changer I would let a pro handle it.

Troubleshooting -- Displays H07 code

While stopped, press and hold REWIND and PAUSE on the unit and then also press and hold OPEN/CLOSE on the unit until Initialized appears from the display. Turn the unit off and on again. If it is still not working, Panasonic Consumer Support recommends having the product checked by an authorized Panasonic service center.
