Hello, You can reset the router to default. On the back of router push in the reset button/hole for 10-15 seconds. The defaults will be: IP address User name admin. You shouldn't need a password. From there you can change username, password, SSID and enable WEP or WPA security. Hope this helps.

My linksys wrt54g can not hook up to the internet via my at&t modem do i need to change any settings whithin mu computer

Are you Using a username and password for your AT&T internet connection? if yes, then try this

press and hold down the reset button on the back of the router until the power light starts blinking. power down the router for 1min.
wire your computer to the #1 port ( modem is not connected to the router )
open internet browser, type on the address bar. type "admin" on the password field.
then you will be able to see the routers' configuration page.
under Internet Connection Type, set it to PPPoE and type your Username and Password that AT&T gave you. scroll down, look for "LAN ip ( usually is in 4 boxes that has ) ". changed the number to then save the settings

just connect your modem to the router, you should be good by then.

if you're not using a UN & PW from AT&T, just changing the ip to will work.

please rate me.. :-)

On your wired computer, opened internet explorer and type or then press enter.

It will ask you for a Username and password, type admin on the username and type your Administrator password on the password field (default password is admin).

Then you will be directed to a setup page, go to the wireless teb then click on the wireless security tab. You will see your password there .

The answer that he gave you is not accurate. In fact you can use your wireless over dial-up. This however takes a little work. You will need to setup internet connection sharing on your desktop with the modem. If you can get the sharing working, then you can use your ethernet card on your PC to transfer the internet back to your wireless router.

This will work, it has been a few years since I have done it, but I used it this way for several years.

I have connected my wireless to the computer and modem and not getting an internet connection what am I doing wrong?

you need to login to the web page using the routers ip address and the usernamd and password which if its left to default will be username - admin and ignore the password field or visa versa ( ignore username field and password is admin ) click on ok and configure the settings into the router with regards to what settings your ISP gave you if you have a static ip address or a dhcp assigned one and any other relevant settings if required ( contact your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) and they should be able to advise you further.
