Occasionally, the half-press won't function if the camera is in certain settings. ie, manual focus, self-timer, lens aperture on setting other than "A", etc. Check your settings to see if this could be causing your problem.

Sometimes shutter release button is very slow, other times it is fine. Just began happening. Do you have any idea what the problem may be

On page 28 of the advanced features manual from your camera, it explains how AF works. Focusing should happen while you press the shutter realise button half way down. Depending of the light, contrast and subject this can take from half a second to sometimes twice or three times as long. When in focus, you hear a beep and see a green light on the display. Then you can make the composition (or fine tune the outline of your picture) and then you press the button fully. The compact camera does work different from a DSLR. If you are user to a DSLR, you have to learn the compact, because it needs more time to focus, because the focus system is completely different.

Blurry Photos

Good day,

I have heard a lot of complaints about people taking Blurry Photos.

There are a few possibilities for it and a few easy fixes.

The first possibility I would identify is a dirty lens. To fix this simply take a clean microfiber cloth and gently clean the lens until there are no smudges visible.

The other possibility I would identify is that the pictures are out of focus.
This problem can be caused by a dirty lens or because the object or person was not focused on. To ensure focus on your photos, line up your shot and wait for the camera to focus by pressing the shutter button half way down. When focused press the shutter button in all the way and hold the camera still until the photo appears on the screen. By doing this you will eliminate any motion that might mess up your shot.

Please let me know if these tips work for you!

Regards

The manual focus ring on my camera doesn't work. The ring turns but does not seem to adjust the focus. Automated focusing still works. How to fix it?

Two methods:-

1. Use the slider switch on the left of the camera to set it to MF (manual focus). The focus ring is an electronic one rather than a physical control like the zoom ring, so the response can seem slow.

2 Go into the camera menu and enable DMF (Direct Manual Focus). This allows you to override the autofocus simply by adjusting the focus control, but it does not work if the slider switch is set to the AF C setting (continuous autofocus), it only work in the AF-S (AF only activates once when the shutter is half pressed).

Olympys fe-270 takes blurry pictures

Try this. Aim the camera at the person/object you want to take a picture of. Press the shutter button "HALF WAY DOWN" wait 2 seconds then complete by pressing all the way down to take the picture. The auto focus works on the "half way down" stroke. Some cameras have a light that goes from red to green to let you know the focus was completed. Or, just wait the 2 or so seconds.

if you use camera digital, before you shoot that object, you must remember, press that shutterkey a half press for twice or third pressing (for fix that object and the lense, of course FOCUS), and you can press full down shutterkey.

Focus Problem

I have the C740, which I believe works very similarly if not identically. Unless you have the camera in full time auto focus, I don't believe it actually focuses on the subject until you've pressed the shutter button half way. Until then, the subject may look in focus in the viewfinder, but is not. When you fully depress the shutter in one motion (rather than pressing half way first), the camera will attempt to focus before it takes the shot. If you are not careful about camera movement, you may inadvertently be focusing on something other than what you intended. My camera (and it seems all digicams) has trouble focusing in low light, so you definitely want to use the half press in such situations. Even then, I don't always get the focus correct. Thank the digital Gods for instant feedback! Personally, I almost always use the half press method. To get the 740 in manual focus, you hold the "OK" button down until you see the viewfinder display a focusing scale. It takes a second or so. You should also see "MF" and "AF" designations in the lower left corner of the viewfinder when the scale displays. Use the left and right arrows to select the focus mode you want (i.e. MF or AF), then use the up and down arrows to adjust the focus distance. You'll notice that the area you are focusing on is enlarged when you use the up and down arrows.
