Are you using a liquid fabric softener ? If so , try using dryer sheets instead . Maytag is known for making liquid softener look like grease on clothes . After switching for a while , and still grease looking stains , then it is possible for the water to be getting into the transmission and pushing the grease up into the tub . Rare , but happens . Time for another machine if that happens .

You must be referring to the water inlet valve (part#22002360 - Anti-Siphon Water Valve) and it is not designed to be torn apart for service or cleaning other than removing the screens where your hot and cold water hoses connect to it.
$20-30 at your appliance parts store..

Either the program switch or the transmission has failed. The transmission is probably a lousy Whirlpool part and have had them fail in only a few years of light service. To eliminate the program switch, use a different cycle setting to see if it can complete any of those available. If not, then it's probably the transmission.

check the drain pump and the mold is quite common in front loading machines. you can use Affresh tables to remove it.

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.

Look toward the bottom end of the agitator. There should be a small indentation where a 10mm screw is. This screw holds the agitator the the transmission shaft. Sometimes the screw works loose and needs to be tightened.

Probably a main tub seal, big job!

It will need a seal and transmission. Expect one and a half to two hours labor. Best bet. Bite the bullet and get another washer as this will probably happen again.
