Question about Symphonic WF803 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

DVD's willl not play, the problem signal at the right top shows it rotating, but a message indicating a playback feature is not on the disc. Tried several disks that work fine on my computer with the same result. An audio CD plays well.

Thanks. I have been fixing electronic equipment since the 8 track and tube TV days but this one blew me away. Does the laser block for the DVD need to be replaced or fixed?

Hi,
Laser Optical Block has inbuilt 2 sections, dvd and cd. Symptom shows dvd section of laser optical block in your combo player got bad and complete laser optical unit need to be replaced.
It is qualified technician job to replace it as it is not user level repair. Please check with local tv repair shop to get it fix.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

    Good to know that, great.
Laser optical block will be replaced as its not repairable thing. If you open the unit, you will see its near spindle motor that spins the disc.
    Thanks.

Disc error "playback feature may not be available on this disc"

Hello arnita2211,

This error message is due to an improper format, that your dvd player can't handle. To correct this you need to use a program such as nero and in nero is a program called nero vision, that will recode the movie file into a dvd playable format.

You can download a trial of nero here
http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero9-trial.php
You will have to purchase a license when the trial ends. Sorry we cannot give you a serial key for this as it is Illegal.

Thank you for trying Fixya!

the message you are getting is the machines waay of telling you that it can not read that disc. which means you will have to burn your discs in a different format. or your are using a type of disc it does not recognize.

DVV Player won't play disc

Check to make sure your player can play other disks. If so then use the disk doctor to remove the scratches on your favorite disk. The area that all DVD players scan before playing a disk is probably smudged or scratched.

DVD player problem

You may have had a brief power outage you did not know about. Then the DVD player needs to be unplugged from the wall and started up again or your lens may need to be cleaned Because your dvd player is only made to play region 1 discs and vcd's are region 2. You need to buy a dvd player which will play all region discs or is rated region 0 which is the same. www.dvdenergy.com/index.htm
