Stick a large screw driver on the motor in the area of the bearings and on the pump housing ... stick the handle to your ear (notice I said to your ear ... not IN your ear) Listen. Often you can determine the source of the noise in this manner.

My money is on the impeller. You will need to replace the seals when you disassemble the pump motor from the pump housing. I found a dime in the impeller recently ...it made a racket until the impeller wore down in that area.

My pool pump is suddenly making loud noise at times

It sounds like you either have a bad bearing or a broken impeller. This will not get better wioth time. You need to get it repaired.

Air in whisperflo window, bubbles from pool jets

This is a air leak on your suction side between the skimmer and the pump. You will not see water in the yard on the suction side usually, only the return. It is usually just the fittings around your pump or the seal around the pump lid, check those first and make sure you do not have a loose clamp or a damaged or dry seal. If that is not it then call in your local service guy to determine where the leak is. They will most likely pressurize your suction line to find the leak. Hope that helps.

Pump makes humming noise impeller spins slowly

sounds as if pump has stuck start winding switch , try giving Motor not the pump a sharp knock with a rubber mallet when you 1st turn on , this might jar it loose if not a new motor might be needed , if motor was larger then say 2hp then id say get it fixed at a motor repair shop due to cost saving but smaller sizes it's not worth it most times

Whisperflo pump exploded

I am as of yet unaware of any means in which a pool heater will make a pump explode, but am intrigued, certainly. Actually, I have never heard of any pump "exploding".
I would assume that there must have been some restriction that caused some sort of failure. Can you be more specific about what kind of damage occurred?

Whisperflow pump making loud squealing noise

The noise is likely either the seal or a bearing in that order. If you are mechanically capable of working on the pump yourself then you can purchase a seal and gaskets at a pool supply store. If the bearings are bad then the motor needs to be replaced. In some cases a bearing can be replaced but usually it is more work than it is worth.

Our Whisperflo pool pump has stopped working and there is a ERR5 message on the indoor control display. I notice a slight burning smell around the pump. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have a bad run capacitor and/or start capacitor. Assuming your bearings are good and the motor spins freely, have you noticed any loud noises, i.e humming, etc.? Sometimes capacitors can go bad. You can check the capacitor by removing that "hump" cover on the top of the motor, if it looks "bloated" it's bad. Be very, very care not to touch the electrical contacts due to high voltage stored in the capacitor. If this is a chronic problem, you may be developing a short in the motor windings and will have to eventually replace the motor. Hope this helps
