One of my soundsticks is vibrating/crackling at louder, bass-ier levels. How can I tell if it's blown and can it be repaired? And where in west LA?

My DB Drive pd 1200.1 amp shuts off when the volume is raised. What is happening and what should I do?

The vibration from the bass is cutting off the amp. it is a loose wire causing this issue. you can also get a stabilizer that will stop the vibrations from causing this issue.

If the speakers vibrate especially when the mega bass is on, does that mean that the speakers are blown on my icf-cdk50?

Real low bass is mostly vibration. Anything that has a "mega bass" 'enancement' is cutting corners to make up for bass-reproduction shortcomings. Speakers measuring 2-5/8' have no business reproducing real bass. Blown speakers would be silent. Torn cones from excessive volume might sound like unwanted vibration. Your vibration might be a resonance of the unit's own housing, mounting hardware or something nearby. Try moving it to another location.

These units are not economically repairable. If you like it and you think it's broken you might snag a whole new on on eBay with wise bidding.

Hello I have a SVT410HLF ... I am getting a very low crackle from the cab . I have checked my head with another cab and it is fine

This is either caused by something in or on the cabinet vibrating... grilles and logos are common problems OR one of the speakers is blown OR you have contamination behind the grille. If you have driven the speaker too hard, the voice coil can distort from heat and rub the magnet pole pieces. You can tell this by removing the grille and GENTLY moving the cone back and forth. If you can feel any roughness, you need to have speake re-coned.

Why my soundsticks 3 subwofer doesn.t work? only the speakers are working.

Hi, 1. Push the knob on the back of the subwoofer that has the power symbol ( c- ) in. you should see a blue light turn on. 2.make sure you turn the knob on the back of the subwoofer from left to right while playing music inorder to test the level of bass you would like.

I have a crackling speaker on the left port of the bass box

The crackling sound on the left port of the bass box, indicates vibrating foreign matters inside it. Just open the box and clear it up. Put the sounds on. Listen if the crackling sound is audible. If the result is ok, then, close the box, and everything is alright..
However, if the result is otherwise, then, it is due to a defective speaker that needs to be replaced.

Amplifiers GT Series GT5-A604 ........explain settings

the amp probably has a x-over knob, a bass boost knob, and an eq knob. the eq is probably an internal crossover switch that will take the output from either high range (tweeters) or full range (6x9s) or low pass (subs) leave it on low pass. the bass boost however, will add distortion if turned up too high. its not noticable in the car, actually it sounds louder in the car but if you open the trunk and listen, you can tell its distorted bass and actually frying your speakers. the x-over knob is used to tune the frequency at which the amp stops pushing out bass tones. if you like rock music loud, turn it up higher, if you like low deep rap bass, turn it lower. keeping it too high might give you bad sound from either type though. ALSO THE GAIN OR LEVEL.IT IS NOT TO MAKE YOUR SUBS LOUDER IT WILL BLOW THEM .the gain is used to set your amp to your head unit which there is a procedure to do it.

Soundsticks have developed a loud intermittent annoying crackle

YOUR ONLY OPTION IS TO TAKE IT APART AND CHECK SPEAKER MEMBRANE I SUSPECT THIS HAS PARTIALY BECOME UNATACHED FROM THE SPEAKER IF THAT IS THE CASE IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED

Mission speakers...i think i've blown one of them...

I'm guessing you mean one of the bass drivers (as standmount or floorstanding speakers don't have subs as such). Place your hand lightly against the driver when playing some music at normal volume, there should be some vibration (this increases the louder you play). If there's no vibration, you're probably right.

Contact Mission, who can send you a new driver, contact a Mission dealer to see how much it'll cost to go through the dealer network. I'd recommend going down the latter route if you are unsure of what to do yourself.

Just noticed you posted this in March, in which case, I hope you got it fixed (or are enjoying your new pair instead!).
