Check the connection between the computer and the router.
If your computer is connected to the router with the cable then make sure that there is no loose connection.
If your computer is connected to port 1 on the router then you will see the light on port 1.
If the light is not lit up then try another cable.

If your computer is not connected and you are using it wireless, then do no worry about this message. This message is for the wired connection.
Make sure that your computer is connected to the wireless network. Go to network connection, you will find wireless network connection. check the status of the connection.

Hello, when i set up my router years ago i didnt put password to long on to it.. now I would like to change that so only people with password can log on to that network..is that possible and if so what do...

Hi,
First, connect your computer via ethernet cable to your router (port 1-4)
Go ahead open a web browser and type : 192.168.2.1 that should take you to the log in screen of your router configuration panel.
Try these combination :
user: admin pass:
user: pass:

After you are into the configuration panel, look for wireless set up, in there you can create you own Network-Name. Then look for wireless security, there you can choose from differents encryption types. The most used now days are WP2 personal or WP. I'll advice not to use WEP because it can easily be crack or broken

If you are unable to connect your laptop wireless to your Belkin wireless access point/router, the easiest and fastest way to get going is to reset your router to the factory defaults. This will make your router work like the day you bought it.

Reset your router:

Unplug your DSL/Cable modem from power (not your access point/router) Leave this unplugged for now

Next

On the rear of your Belkin router you will find a small RESET button

With the power still on the router, Press and hold (with a pin/pen tip) the RESET button for 10 seconds.

Release the RESET button a wait 15 seconds for the router to reboot

almost done....

Unplug your Belkin router from power

Plug your DSL/Cable modem back in to power

Wait 1 minute for the modem to boot up

Be sure the ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem is securely plugged into the WAN port on the back of your Linksys router. This is usually labeled WAN or Internet above the jack

Plug your Belkin router back into power.

You will now be able to connect to the internet with your wireless device. I bought belkin g wireless modem ruter but they didn't give me CD . How can i install this and how can i use my wireless ruter please. Thank you.

Power-off your cable-modem (or DSL-modem).
Use an Ethernet cable to connect from the modem to the WAN port on your router.
Use another Ethernet cable to connect from one LAN port on your router to the network-port on your computer (desktop/laptop).
Turn the modem on.
Turn the router on.
Turn the computer on.
Click Start
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 1234.678.0.1
Start Internet Explorer
Type http://1234.678.0.1
to access the web-server "inside" the router.
Run the Network Setup Wizard.
Run the Wireless Networking Setup Wizard,
to pick an SSID, an encryption-level (use 'WPA')
and to pick a network-password.
Now, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable from the computer, and try using the wireless-adapter inside your computer.

Do i have to go wireless with the (belkin wireless router g plus mimo)? or can i run ethernet cables from the 4 ports in the back of router to my computers?

you can run wires to create a WIRED network. just enable DHCP in your router so that you will get IP addresses dynamically. While you have WIRED network, your wireless network can also be used at the same time for your wireless devices.

Belkin N router reads everything but the computer.

If your router was working before, and suddenly stopped working, then you probably need to reset it.
Unplug the router from power, also unplug all network cables from it.
Wait about 30 seconds.
Plug power back in, followed by network cables.
Wait some more seconds while the router restarts.
Only the Power light and the Status light should be solid.
All others in use must be blinking, which means they are in use.

Try connecting to the internet with cable first, then try wireless.

It should work.

Router issues?

If you haven't made any changes and suddenly your wireless connection has stopped working than these are the signs that your router is offline.
Now first of all check that on your router have you got the dsl or the internet light solid if it's not solid then it could be a problem with your broadband line...check with your isp whether the signals are there on the line or not.
Now, if the signals are there then...
1) Do a complete power cycle of your router unplug all cables from your router replug them then check....

if still you are not able to open up any pages on ie...then reset your router to default settings...
in order to reset your router at the back of your router you will find a small hole that is the reset hole press the pin in that hole for 10secs that will reset your router....restart both of your comps....
Now, if you are using windows xp then
click start>control panel>in control panel click on switch to classic view>after that click on network connections>
in network connections you'll find wireless network connections....right click on wireless networks..
then click view wireless networks you'll get an option of belkin wireless network..select it and press connect....
once it says connected close all the screens and run the router installation disc that you got with your router .....you will be able to connect..

If you are on windows vista then
click start>then in start menu click connect to you'll find belkin network select it and press connect once connected run the router installation disc...
