If the machine will spin but not agitate, then the transmission needs replacement. You should probably get an estimate from an appliance tech to see if it is better to replace the part or the machine.

If the drain motor filter is cleared out and still not working then you are going to need to replace the motor in your front loading washer I had lightening strike near my home once and although it would still adgitate it would not spin properly or even adgitate properly After having service men come out a number of times I ended up replacing almost every part including the motor which finally fixed the problem

Adjitator won't work

if the adjitator and the spin cycles do not work the coupler between the motor and the transmission is at fault

Our washer does not spin. It vibrates, but when you open the lid, it is clear that nothing has moved.

Does the washer adjitate well during the wash cycle. If the washer fills and pumps oput the water but does not adjitate or spin well the coupler that couples the motor to the transmission is stripped and worn our.

Washer wont agitate, but drains and spins ok

hello. i can assist you. when a washer won't agitate, one of several expensive repairs are in order. If your washer is more than 5 years old I recommend replacing as opposed to repairing. That said if you want more information on what might be wrong get back.

My machine will just stop after the adgitate cycle.

Manually turn the knob to the spin cycle and turn it on.
If it does not spin, replace the lid switch.

If it does spin, replace the timer.

Washer Adgitator

To answer your question, both. It could be the reason as your washer agitates, it is moving back and forth in short increments. This can cause the bolt to back out. However, the rubber washer is not the only thing to hold the bolt in. When the bolts are installed in the factory (and also replacment bolts from the manufactuer) they come not only with a rubber seal that helps keep the bolt from turning, but also the shaft of the bolt is coated in a thread-loc substance. I would recomend adding some thread lock to it (availible in hardware stores, auto parts stores, and even in wal-mart). If your bolt still persists in coming out, I would visit my local appliance parts store with my model number (located under the lid towards the rear) and purchase a replacment agitator bolt. These are fairly inexpensive. It will come with fresh thread, thread -loc and a new rubber washer, all of which will help to hold it in correctly. If you have any more troubles, send me a message back.
