Question about Weber Genesis Silver A Grill

Burner won't ignite

Gas is getting to the burner, but the crossover ignition doesn't turn on the burner. We grilled last night, and it ignited, but the flame, even when on high, was extremely low. Could this be a cleaning problem of some sort? If so, how would we go about that?

Eventually grease and other debris will accumulate around the burners and require cleaning. Remove the burners, they should pull straight up and out and clean any grease. Also clean the inside of the base as best as possible. Replace burners and you'll be enjoying a grilled meal in no time.

Where is the ignite button located

Hi phillzy21
If the main grilling burners don't ignite, try lighting them several times using the snap ignition. If that doesn't work, try using a match. In humid and windy conditions, sometimes the snap ignitions do not work properly. Make sure that the hood is fully open. Also, ensure that your gas is turned on and that the valve is fully open. Next, take out both the heat distribution plates and cooking grate. Turn the grill backwards, and hit the snap igniter a few times and look for a spark. If you see a spark, the igniter is working properly.

Why won't my Weber grill ignite after installing a

Disclaimer- be careful when working with gas. Starters in gas grills are just about novelty anymore. Often, they only light 1/3rd or 1/4th of the burners and they usually stop working within one grilling season. I recommend using a wand lighter. Try to light just one burner but if doesn't light in 5 to 7 seconds, turn the gas off and wait to try again. Incidentally, you are turning the gas on at the tank, right? You should hear it when you turn the burner on.

Infared burners ignitor won't work

Mike, have you replaced the battery in the igniter button ye? That's the first place to start troubleshooting. Be sure you install the new battery facing the same direction as the old battery. Also, check the interior contacts of the battery holder for corrosion. If you find any, use a Q-Tip sprayed with a little WD40 to clean it.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, trace the igniter wire from the igniter button to the spark igniter at the burner for damaged wire or a loose connection.

And finally, try match lighting the infrared burners to make sure that they are getting an adequate flow of gas.

Hope this helped you t troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I think I need a new crossover ignition system for a Genesis 320 natural gas grill, where can I get one? I cannot find the correct one on your website.

Nancy, we don't have any parts on the FixYa website. But, if you're referring to to the crossover burner, that lights the last burner, you can find it at the following link under "tubing". http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/gasgrillparts/brands/weber/weber-tubing.html

Hope this helps you and Happy Grilling. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

We're using a Sunbeam Grill Master outdoor grill. When we turn the start button to ignite it it doesn't work. The gas is on and the burners are off. Help.

Try this I have had the same problem occasionally with mine. Turnoff the knobs in front then turn off the tank then unscrew the black knob on the tank until you hear a hiss. Tighten the black knob and then try to start your grill again. Turn on tank then turn on one burner the start burner and ignite with your pisio igniter red button. Sometimes these get what is called a vapor lock and this should clear it up every time. Good Luck...

The crossover tube won't ignite past the first few inches from the front element. I have tapped it to clear it, cleared teh little side holes and even ran a wire through it (as a few of the...

If the cross over tube burner has rusted to the point of collapse is a pretty good indicator that it needs to be replaced. I personally, don't see in correlation between LP tank and the collapse of the crossover tube burner. A weak tank, as you called it, would not have any bearing to it.

Now, if you're match lighting the other burners and the flame height remains low, even when turned to high. That's a problem with the grills regulator, which can easily be solved.

Turn the Tank Valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY Slowly (Slow motion, slow), until the valve is fully open. Light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn the burner to HIGH. If the flame height now, looks correct, light the remaining burners the same way. If all the flame heights have returned to normal, you solved that problem.

if it didn't solve the problem, you need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly and the crossover tube. The hose/regulator assembly can be purchased at any home center or hardware store, that sells gas grills and accessories. Tank the old one with you for comparison purposes. The Crossover Burner can be purchased from Weber or Factory Appliance Parts http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/

Hope this aids you in troubleshooting and solving the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!

Problem with gas getting to the front burner

Follow manufacturer's recommendation in resetting the excess flow safety device....(Turn burners and LP cylinder off...Disconnect regulator on cylinder. Turn both knobs to high for at least one minute...Then turn them to off...reconnect the regulator to the LP tank...Turn LP valve VERY slowly (30 seconds) until fully opened..then start the grill in the usual manner. ALWAYS TURN THE LP TANK OFF WHEN DONE USING THE GRILL....

Grill not lighting

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the push button igniter next to the burner control knobs on the front of your grill.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the grill has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck
