Hi.

Trip the circuit breaker or disconnect power cord for five minutes, so to reset the appliance.

If there is no power at all, reach the main outlet and the power cord and check them out if possible. Also check lint filter and replace the thermal fuse.

If the dryer is turning on but does not cycle, then replace the thermal fuse, then test the door switch, and finally go for the timer board.

The timer control board is expensive and control board failure are difficult to diagnose.
For this reason the timer board is replaced only after testing all other parts.

Test the door switch and on wiring harness/connectors to the electronic control board.

The door switch can be tested jumping its contacts.

If the main switch is not integrated on timer pcb, it can be tested reading ohms or jumping the switch, then turning back on circuit breaker.

Wiring harness and connectors are tested reading Ohms between two points to ensure that there is continity.

This operation must be done with power not connected.

If there is no problem concerning the wiring, door lock and timer, test quickly the heath group , motor, and rest of the wiring to ensure that the problem is not given by a contact that get lost at random times, then proceed in replacing the timer board.

To find parts you can use the links listed here: Parts and diagrams.

Some of test described must be done by a trained technician.

If you need to call a technician, use the phone number listed on the owners manual or see Fixya directory.

Whirlpool dryer model LEQ8800JQ won't start when push start butto

I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!

Dryer won't Start

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose
