The "Z" is the scan emblem. If you repost a question telling us the model of radio, we may be able to locate a manual for you.

Best regards.

We have Motorola T4500 walkie talkies. One of the units keep searching and has a z in the upper right hand corner. How do I turn that off?

The Z means the radio is scanning some or all of the channels that have been programmed into it. One of the buttons on the radio should stop the scanning. The button is usually the same one that starts the scanning, and pushing it a second time will stop the operation.

Is there a way I can change the channel on my Walkie Talkie manually. I can't get them both on the same channel.

On the Motorolas you have to press the menu button until your current channel flashes. Then press the plus (+) or minus(-) sign to change the channel. 21 is a great channel and you can get distance on it.

How do I make it work

It depends on the channels on the walkie talkies.

Can you supply the frz range of the TRC, and walkie talkies make and model and I will try and get the frez on the channels for you.

I can then tell if it will work or not.

Walky talky

A walkie talky as we called them, back when we were younger - and hell we probably still do in some respects, hence the fact my friend still refers to her cordless phone as a "walkie talky" and the principals haven't changed that much.

The common old Walkie Talky or CB radio use what we call a half duplex, that means only one person can talk at a time. We are talking and listening on the same channel.

Cell phones are full duplex, meaning two way conversation, and this is simply listening on one channel whilst talking on another, so the basic principal is basically the same, just a little more sophisticated.

Walkie-talkie typically has one channel
CB radio has 40 channels.
Cell phone
can communicate on 1,664 channels or more!

I have included a link to a circuit diagram.
