Question about Garden

1 Answer

Kohler CV15S on a John Deere LT155 smokes alot. I pulled the head off to check the cylinder. The cylinder looks perfect but the head gasket looks as if it has had blow by between the exhaust valve and the cylinder. Could the engine be pulling oil into the cylinder on the down stroke? This is a verticle shaft engine and the oil return from the overhead valves is in this area. Does this sound like I am right. I don't want to have to do a rebuild.

I also have a John Deere LT155 Garden Tractor, and 'I have issues with white smoke and cannot get it started. I have detected gas smell in the oil. Quick call to a JD service centre told me it was likely a head casket. If the smoke is white, then that is likely your problem.

Why will engine not start.

first make sure battery is fully charged and in good shape. Be sure pto is off and brake/clutch pedal is depressed. If still nothing then check fuse. After that its likely a safety switch or bad connection.

J power and smokes white

Possibly a head gasket problem (as the head heats up it warps slightly, allowing coolant to seep into the cylinders, which is the source of the white smoke--steam) Is the motor using coolant?

15hp kohler in my john deere lawn tractor 1999 modle LT155 it smokes now after sitting for a 1-2 yr

If the smoke is blue you are leading oil past the seals, if its black you are running a rich mixture. since its been sitting around for a while you may also have a lot of varnish buildup in the cylinders which will take a while to burn out and will smoke until it does. If its blue the engine needs new piston rings, not terribly difficult, but not quick fix.

Need instructions for changing a drive belt on a john deere LT155 lawn tractor. When mowing up hill the forward motion is slipping even though i am not loosing traction. if i come off the pedal and start...

I have googled LT155 and came upon john deere LT155 lawn tractor(noncurrent). It took me to John Deere's site. I put in your model number and it had several catagories. I would try the alphabetical list, go to B and look for traction belt.
Good day.
