Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Webcam

I have followed the instructions to the letter and my ,after being plugged in, is not registering on my computer HELP!!!! PLEASE

Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the
camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger

set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on "Open the call setup assistant" and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.

Can't install software


Check this procedure for Software Installation...

CAUTION:
Install EasyShare software before connecting the camera to your computer. If not, the software may not charge properly.

1. Close all software applications that are open on your computer (including the antivirus program).
2. Place the EasyShare software CD into the CD-ROM.
3. Install the software:
Windows: If you install window appears, select Run from the Start menu and type d:\setup.exe, where d is the drive letter that contains the CD.

Mac: Double-click the CD icon on the desktop and click the Install icon.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the software.
NOTE: When the system tells you to take a few minutes to electronically register your camera and software. To register later, visit www.kodak.com / go / register.

5. When the system is prompted, restart the computer. If you turned off the antivirus software, reopen it. Refer to the antivirus software manual for details.

Followed instructions to set up the headset got as far as scanning for the bluetooth device. But will not register the device. Can you help please thanks.


Have you put the headset into "discoverable" mode? This has to be done before the computer (or other Bluetooth capable device) can "see" it and register it. Check the instructions for the headset as to how to put it in the discoverable mode.

My Kodak Easyshare camera won't transfer photos to the computer, but I can have them printed in drugstores, etc. What am I missing? Operator error I'm sure! Thanks!!


Try to install the software on your computer first. Here are the steps:

  1. Close all software applications that are open on your computer (including anti-virus software).
  2. Place the Kodak EasyShare software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Install the software:
    spacer.gif Windows OS-based computer-if the install window does not appear, choose Run from the Start menu and type d:\setup.exe where d is the drive letter that contains the CD.
    Mac OS X-double-click the CD icon on the desktop, then click the Install icon.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
    spacer.gif Windows OS-based computer-select Complete to automatically install the most commonly used applications. Select Custom to choose the applications you wish to install.
    Mac OS X-follow the on-screen instructions.
    NOTE: When prompted, take a few minutes to electronically register your camera and software. My Garmin will not bring up eny maps . It just brings up no detailed maps found that support routing.


The "No Detailed Maps Found That Support Routing" message may appear on your device for the following reasons:
  • The GPS device is missing it's unlock code
  • The maps on the GPS device have been disabled
To determine the cause of the message, touch the screen until the message "No Detailed Maps Found That Support Routing" disappears.
  • If you see a "Can't Unlock Maps" message following this error, remove any microSD / SD cards in the device and follow the instructions below for Retrieving your unlock codes followed by the instructions for Creating an unlock file
  • If you do not get the Can't Unlock Maps message then skip to the instructions for Enabling maps on the GPS device
To retrieve your unlock codes you must first register your satnav if you haven’t already done so.
To register

· Connect the satnav to your computer.
· Go to www.garmin.com and select your country
· Click on “myGarmin”
· Click on “Register Your Garmin Product” and follow the prompts
You’ll be asked to create a username and password. Write them down and keep them safe as you’ll need them anytime you want to update your maps.
Retrieving your unlock codes:
  1. Log into your myGarmin account
  2. Select Manage Maps
  3. Select Details
  4. The unlock code is located under the Installed Maps.
Creating an unlock code file for PC:
  1. Plug your Garmin device into the USB port

First, check to see if it registers in the BIOS. Since you plugged it in yourself I'm assuming you know how to check, but let me know if I'm wrong. If it doesn't register in the BIOS, it's either not connected properly or the drive is broken. Play with the cables and with the Master/Slave pins and see if you can get it to register that way.

If it does register in the BIOS but just doesn't have a drive letter in Windows, you could try to assign it one through the Computer Management console. From your Desktop, right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage. Under "Storage", select "Disk Management". If you see a drive there that has no letter assigned, you can right-click and mount it.

My memory card readers light comes on but the computer doesnt reg


i hope the device is being recognized by os probably windows... if yes some times drive letter doesnt come up in explorer..try typing < next alphabet of last drive letter >: in explorer address bar.

for example if last drive is F: windows try typing G: in address bar in explorer.

For Solving do the following:
It wont support the lower versions of OS like 98,98SE
Get a OS having the SERVICE PACK of latest version like WINXP With SP2,....
Place the CD in the ROM and follow the instructions as given.
