All other things being equal, higher impedance is always safer than less. Give it a try. You may have to reverse the positive and negative leads to get the bass to be in-phase with your other speakers.

Um, did we switch tracks here? You were talking about a 4-ohm sub driver replacement on a Sony DAV-DZ100 and now we're talking about a Technics Stereo Receiver.

4 ohm and 8 ohm speakers

You can plug in higher ohm speakers , the higher the ohm the higher the resistance is, it is a danger when you plug lower ohm speakers into a higer ohm Amp , at a high volume that will cause them to blow , the center speaker would be fine to use a higer ohm speaker , your best choice is to buy a Active Subwoofer, which means the sub has it's own power supply , and u can blast the thing as much as u like , thn u can turn the bass down on all the other speaker's so u can play it louder , and have the sub turned up has high as u like , this is the best way to get great sound with high volume , buy a Active sub woofer , any active subwoofer is ok , a active sub woofer has its own volume and inputs on the speaker ,

Hey i have a 15"

The problem is probably the way you have them wired, but could be a couple of things.

A few things to think about.
1. Is your amplifier one or 2 channel. If it's one channel, it must be 2 ohm stable.
2. Are the gains on your amp turned up. This is the little knob next to the RCA input.
3. If your sub is a dual 4 ohm voice coil, you need to wire it to a 2 ohm load. Make sure the positive of the source is wired to the positive of both voice coils and the negative of the source is wired to the negative of both voice coils. This is what is called a parallel set up. If you wired from the source to one voice coil and daisy chained to the next, you probably have it in series, which creates a 8 ohm load. Which mean more resistance, less efficiency, and less sound.
4. Make sure the power wire to your amp is appropriate. A 50-65 amp load up to 22 feet in distance is good for a 4 guage wire. Anything bigger than that will need 0 guage.
5. Make sure your ground is good. If you know how to use a multimeter, check it. Always use the same guage wire as the power wire.

Hope this helps

Which will hit harded 2 ohm or 4 ohm

In general, the 2 ohm speaker will be louder than the 4 ohm with most amplifiers. For example with this amp being sold at Best Buy you have 400 watts rms at 4 ohms or 600 watt rms at 2 ohms. However, being the same model sub they should 'hit' the same.

Hope this helps

4 plugs on each speaker i only have two wires from my amp

The reason you have 4 plugs on your sub is because it has a dual voice coil. It is basically like having 2 subs in one. You have 2 wiring options you can wire in 2ohm or 8 ohm loads. most amps are 1,2,or 4 ohm so i suggest going 2 ohm. The amp should be rated for 800-1200Watts @ 2 ohm load for this sub to work properly and make sure that amp is at max 80% by adjusting gain. This website will help with wiring be sure to note that for 2 ohm load the + are hooked up together. and the - are hooked together a parrallel ciruit.
Good Luck and enjoy

I have a sony xm-2002gtw and i want to know if i can hook two 2-ohm dual subwoofers up to this amp and how i have 2 solo baric 12-inch.

200W x 2 @ 4 Ohm
500W x 1 @ 4 Ohm

This amplifier cannot handle a load lower than 4 Ohms in stereo or bridged mode.

If the subs are Dual 2 ohm - You cannot wire a 4 ohm load with (2) subwoofers.

Only 8, 2, or 1/2 ohm loads are possible with (2) dual 2ohm voicecoils

You can use any type of amp as long it can drive at least 1000 watts and it 2 ohm, 4 ohm or 8 ohm stable. Here is the specs on the woofer:
  • 12" High Performance Subwoofer
  • Rubber Seal Gasket
  • High Temperature 2" 4 Layer Voice Coil
  • Air Vented Aluminum Fomer
  • Dual Voice Coil ( 4 ohm + 4 ohm)
  • Large Foam Edge Surround
  • Bumped Plated For Maximum Excursion
  • Excellent For Sealed and Bandpass Enclosures
  • 70 Oz Magnet Structure
  • 1000 Watts Max
  • Frequency Response: 25Hz-800 Hz
  • 2 Ohm / 4 Ohm/ 8 Ohm Operation
  • Screw Block Terminal

15 cvr 4ohm trying to drop to 1 ohm

Are these Dual Voicecoil Subwoofers? Are there 4 terminals on each sub for wires?

If they are Dual 4 ohm voicecoil subwoofers
- connect both + on subwoofer 1
- connect both - on subwoofer 2
- connect both + on subwoofer 2
- connect both - on subwoofer 1

This will give you a 2 ohm STEREO load.
To get a 1 ohm MONO load...
now connect only one of the + on EACH sub to the + on the amplifier.
and the - on EACH sub to the - on the amplifier.
You now have a 1 ohm mono load.

If your speakers are 4ohm single voicecoils (one pair of terminals) the lowest impedence possible is 2 ohms.

This is wired in the same fashion. Both + on the subwoofers to the + on the amp, and both - on the subwoofers to the - on the amp.

How to wire 2 ohm 2 12ich alpine type r's to box terminals?

Dual 4 ohm subwoofers can only be wired @ 1 ohm, 4 ohm or 8 ohm.
2 ohm mono load is not possible.
You will need to use (1) subwoofer to get the 1000W out of the amp.
Wire both positives on one sub to + on amplifier and both - on the same sub to - on amplifier to give the amplifier a 2 Ohm load.
Add a second amplifier, or buy an amplifier that is 1 ohm mono stable.
You can wire both to the amplifier at 4 ohms 600W, but they will share the power and only see 300W ea.

Soundstorm amp

I wrote it in my solution to the original question.
You are shooting for a 4 ohm load.
so a single 4 ohm driver, a dual 2 ohm driver, or (2) dual 4 ohm drivers will do the trick.
Bridge the amplifier @ 4 ohms to get the most power.
