Brother DCP 7020 LAser Printer. A t-shirt transfer was stuck and melted on the rollers. I dug out the pieces. Now it says rear cover open and I can't find a switch or sensor that might be pluged with paper or covered. Any suggestions?

I switched off the power , unplugged the printer for 30 seconds then plugged it in and turned on the power. No change - the rear cover open display still present. There is no power switch to hold for 30 seconds... just an on/off power switch.

I've removed the paper that was stuck on the heated rollers...tedious job but I think I got it all off.
Where is this sensor I might reset?

Brother DCP 7020 Laser Printer. Daughter put a t-shirt transfer through and it stuck to the rollers in the back that heat up. I was able to peel and scrape it off but now it says back cover open despite my closing it. I've tried turning the printer off and on and have looked for any wayward bits of paper. is there something else like a sensor to clean, reset, etc.?
    thanks

I can't get into options. The Back Cover Open is still on and it beeps when I press options and won't let me in. Is there a sensor to reset or check in the rear door area?

I would suggest Highly you call brother for a service manual because it will be hard for even us to tell you exact location of the sensor effected. I would also try what they call wet sheets they sale them at like Best buy with is ran threw that paper path to collect all the garbage left behind.

Other then that I would say have it serviced but you might be looking into some high cost for that but I would check into at east a estimate.

Thanks hope this was helpful please do click the accept button for my efforts.

Hi! Please try this. Unplug the printer from power source then press and hold the power button for 30secs. while unplugged. Plug the printer again from power source then turn it on. This should reset the printer's system. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Alrighty, can you check the back of the printer if there is access for paper to pull out when jammed? The sensor might be detecting it and may need to be detached and re attached again.

Have you tried looking for the sensors? It is usually interconnected and wont normally function if its faulty.

you can safely replace the pickup roller without stabilising the document scanner and the laser scanner.

replacing the pickup roller is a relatively simple job that is easily done by someone who is good with their hands or with a little common sense.

Open the front cover, out of the cartridge, on the left is a direction knob, you should already be rotation in the end. You remove this side of the three screws, pull down the knob, adjust to the other side and then mount, screw....then ok....

Brother DCP-7020 Paper Jam, we keep having the paper jam at the paper exit at the top/back of machine. I've examined closely from front, back, bottom, even removing a few easily removed parts, but can...

This is caused by dirty exit roller. As this machine is a pain to dismantle I suggest that you try and clean these rollers ( 3 or 4 rubber small ) as they rotate. Opening and closing the front door will keep rotating them for you. Use a damp wrm water lint free cloth. I use a compound named Print Clean but metho can be used also.

Where is the drum located in the printer?

The drum unit is attached to the toner cartridge for the DCP-7020. If you open the front cover (flips down) of the printer, you need to simply pull the drum and toner unit straight out from the printer. You should place the unit on a large drop cloth or piece of paper to ensure that the toner doesn't spill. See chapter 6, page 12 (page 52) of the User's manual for the image of the drum unit. Page 6-19 has the removal procedure. You separate the toner unit from the drum by pressing and holding a lever on the left side of the unit. Then pull the toner cartridge straight out from the drum unit. The User's manual is available from Brother's product support page. The direct link to the manual is http://download.brother.com/welcome/doc000367/DCP-7020_UsaEngUsr_B.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Rear Cover message stuck on

First, try shutting off, and unplugging the printer to do a reset on the micro & logic circuitry. If you actually have broken switch or lever which actuates the switch, then an obvious solution is to replace said broken part. Or, if indeed a switch, you could possible bypass & defeat the switch so it doesn't sense the door open. If this is an actual mechanical switch bypass is fairly simple. You will need to find out if the non-fault (normal operation) condition is either an Open or closed switch and either short across the switch contacts (closed) or pull a wire off (open). If desperate to get the printer running, bypass the switch, use the printer, and get a replacement part ordered in the meantime, then install the new part to restore proper operation.
