Check that the Monitor power cable is firmly connected to the mains and the back of the monitor. Do u have the Power light on in front of the monitor?
Check the Signal cable running from the Computer to the Monitor. Is it firmly fixed at both ends?
If still no joy, plug a known working monitor to your computer. If u get a display, then your monitor might have gone bad or it might have been set to the lowest brightness (check the setting knob).
If swap monitor does not also work, then your Display (VGA) card is suspect, faulty. You may want to replace your VGA card.

Power light is on, but no video. also cant get menus to turn on

I take it you are talking about the monitor menus. If this is the case, suspect a bad monitor. Try another monitor to see if it works. That will tell you for sure.

The power button of my dell monitor keeps blinking and i cant do anything about it.

Try another known working monitor on your computer to make sure that your computer turns on and you have video. If you do have video then you know for sure there is a problem with your original monitor.

If you don't have video with the monitor that does work then that means its an issue with the computer, at that point unseat and reseat the memory to see if that brings the video back.

If you can't get video after reseating the memory and CPU then the motherboard is bad on the computer.

Blinking on and off

No offense, Tyson, but would you mind explaining your question a bit better? You wrote "when i out the power cable in it"and that really confuses me. Did you unplug the power cable or did you plug it in?

Also, how long ago did this happen? Was there anything you can think of that may have caused this problem?

If the CPU fan is not rotating, you may have a problem with your power supply.

I am guessing your system is powering on, but not showing anything on the monitor.

Try removing every thing from the computer, starting with the power cable. Then add back only the monitor and turn it back on. If it works, one of the items you left unplugged is causing a problem.

If that does not work, again remove the power cable and open the case. Remove all expansion cards other than video, disconnect all of the drive power and data cables (CD, DVD, hard drive, etc.) then plug in only power and monitor to see if you get anything.

If still no go, unplug power cable, carefully remove the RAM and put it exactly back where it came from. At this point, if you still get nothing you are down to 4 components:
power supply
video card

If the CPU fan is still not spinning, I would suspect it is the motherboard or power supply. Get a can of air and blow out the CPU fan to make sure it rotates easily.

Let me know if you need more help.

The 280W may not be supportive enough for the computer requirements and is not diverting its power correctly to power the VGA part of the motherboard.

Son turned off and now will not turn on

is there any error messages at all on ur monitor or u cant see anything on ur monitor

try taking the main socket out and putting it back in wht i mean is tht if u have a power surge then close it and start it agian
2nd solution
try reconnecting the monitor cord to the pc again and see if it does anything
or attach anothr monitor to it to see if the moniotr was the problem

since you can see the green light on the cpu, we possibly know that its not the power supply
so let meknow if u cant see anything or if theres any eror messages at all and leave ti alone for an hour with the power surge turned off and come back to it later and see if it works

on the worse scenario u might have to replace ur video card
