Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Toshiba Satellite A300D-15 does not start 1/ The AC charger is able to deliver 19V (tested with multimeter) 2/ When we use its AC charger on another laptop (FUJITSU SIEMENS) having same charactéristics for AC power, it is detected by the Fujistsu and able to charge the battery 3/ When we tried to plug the Toshiba AC charger on the toshiba satellite, the AC is not detected (no led on) AND if just after having disconnected it I check the output with my multimeter, there is less than 1 volt. I have to unplug it the charger from AC and then reconnect it in order to measure 19 Volt again. 4/ If I use the AC charger of the fujitsu on the toshiba satellite, it does not manage to start too but what it is amazing is that the AC charger of the fujitsu checked with the multimeter continues to deliver 19 Volt output. My conclusion, I don't know why nor how but the satellite toshiba is able to block the toshiba AC charger output but not the fujitsu one. I think there is an internal configuration of the toshiba thinking that the battery is full while it is not the case and so is able to stop the AC charger. The problem is if i remove the battery and start only with AC, I have the same problem. Anyone can help me ? Why both AC charger have not the same behavior ? Is it a motherboard/mainboard problem ? Is there a solution to go out of this configuration ? Regards

try looking at the DC input. My brother's 1st laptop had that same problem. All we need to do is solder it. Remember-1st dc connection, not the one on the MB.

SOURCE: Laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 Model No. PSAF6A-02C01N fail boot

Try removing / swapping / reseating the memory.

Try booting with one stick only, if the top slot doesn't work, try booting the bottom slot. Try both sticks.

Let me know what happens.

My toshiba satellite U505 turns off suddenly when i turn it on. What might be the problem

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:

Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

You had better replace your laptop charger. Even if you go to repair it, it will cost you the same price of getting a new charger. So it is wise to purchase a new one. Here are two for your reference:

Toshiba satellite L305-s5955 will not power up

If there is no power light and it can't charge your laptop, it is likely that the charger is dead. You need a new laptop charger. So try a new adapter to confirm the real issue.

There are two kinds of ac adapters for your toshiba l305-s5955

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 75Watt 19V 3.95A

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A

You should choose the right charger depending on your original adapter's specification. If the original one need 90w, you won't buy 75w that will bring damage to your laptop. If it needs 75w you can use 90w too.
