Question about Homelite Mighty Lite Lawn Trimmer

1 Answer

Homelite edger won't start

I've replaced the spark plug and have tried putting a little gas directly into the cylinder (through spark plug port) and it won't fire off once. Last time it ran, it ran really well, but only in the full choke position, Might have two problems.

What do I do and where do I start.

Thanks

Try this first...
Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

How do I start an homelite whipper snipper model f2020 this one I have never started from new it's about 3 years old could be older it's never even had any fuel in it up to now

First make sure the on/off has tried in both directions. Even here in the shop I sometimes forget to set those switches that don't have the momentary off postion.

Then if still doesn't start then I would treat it as if run at sometime and go thru the basic troubleshooting of a won't start engine.

  • Check for spark. No equals ignition problems.

  • If you have spark then
  • Try putting a little fuel mix in the cylinder via the spark plug hole to see it will try to start. if tries to start then carburetion problems. Yes even with an used carburetor.
  • If still don't try to start then check for compression and timing related problems.

I have a homelite htc 12 tiller that will not start. I have replaced fuel lines, spark plug, and primer bulb. I am getting fuel to cylinder and spark to the plug, checked by inline spark checker. Can you tell...

The run from input of gas all of the way through the system to exhaust has to be clear and free from blockage. It is usually on the exhaust side of things where blockage occurs - if you put a potato into the exhaust pipe of a car, It will NOT start. clean the air filter on the back end. Otherwise, check the oil level - a gas lawnmower will not start, while full of gas, without the required oil which adds to the mixture internally.

Homelite very hard starting prime 10X full choke model UT32651

Make sure your fuel mix is fresh and of the right gas-oil ratio. Today's pump gas has Ethanol mixed with the gas and can go bad in as little as 30 days. this stuff is terrible to run in small 2 cycle engines. A lot of loggers I know buy Ethanol free gas for their saws. Also do not ever use starting fluid to start a 2 cycle engine ! What happens is the Either washes the cylinder wall of oil and now you have a scored piston and/or cylinder

My cutoff saw won't start, compression is good, has oil/gas mix, gets spark from wire but sparkplug was dirty so i cleaned it and she still won't turn over

If the saw briefly runs when you prime the carb and/or cylinder with gas then most likely fuel is not getting thru the carb. Try rebuilding the carb and replacing the fuel filter first. You can also search on youtube and google for troubleshooting tips.

Homelite chain saw XL925 cord pull too hard but if you remove the spark plug then it pulls OK.

I have a Homelite XL and was having problems with rope pulling from difficult to unable to pull rope while trying to start saw. I removed the muffler, squirted some WD40 through the exhaust port ABOVE and BELOW the piston compression ring. Then pulled the rope about 20 times without spark plug to fully lubricate the piston and cylinder. Left it till the next day, pulled it through about 20 more times, put the spark plug back in,and it works well now. Guess it was just gummed-up a little and the lubrication freed it.

My Homelite UT-20002A trimmer have a hard starting problem. I remove the muffler and cleaned the carbon in the exhaust port. I also replaced the spark plug, but still the trimmer is dificult to start.

If you can, check to make sure there is a spark. Check the plug and notice if there is a presence of gas/oil mix on the plug or in the cylinder. Also, make sure the air filter is clean Try to make sure all bolts and screws are tight as lots of vibrations can loosen some of them.. An air leak on the engine could be causing your problems. A carburetor that is in need of a rebuild will do the same.. Finally an engine that is badly worn and has weak compression will not start, period.

Homelite won't start

You may consider installing a new spark plug. 2-cycle engines foul plugs pretty regular. I'm guessing you are using old gasoline??

Cannot start my trimmer, even change the spark

Take off the air cleaner and squirt gas in the carb. If it fires it is not getting gas from the tank. If it does not fire pull the spark plug and squirt a little gas in the cylinder. Replace the plug and try starting it. If it fires it is not getting gas from the carb.

If you have a two line fuel system make sure the lines didn't get crossed. If they are you could still get gas to the cylinder but not enough. I hope this will of some help to you. Donnyb60
