Get a replacement paty at your full service propane dealer. He would probably appreciate your gas business as well.

I smell gas when the dryer is running but not when it is not running. Is this normal?

No not normal. Have this checked out thouroughly for leaks. More specifically around the dryer coils and gas valve. Check the burner tube for rust holes. Any holes in the burner tube and it must be replaced.

Is there any way to find out what kind or where to get the correst thermal coupler for my Berkeley sr 1001?

These heaters are all pretty contankerous and I doubt the thermocouple has failed, unless something has been done to it (I've got two of these heaters, and have to work on them all the time. Have never replaced a t-couple.). I usually find the problem with the t-couple is insufficient pilot flame.
Problems fall into two areas -
1) Bugs building nests or spiders building webs in the pilot hood and main burner. Disassemble the top head and clean everything. While you have the pilot tubing disconnected, be sure to blow out the tube (by mouth), making sure you have flow. Also make sure you clear the air mix chamber in the base of the pilot hood.
2) The regulator in the bottom of the unit begins to stiffen up after 3-5 years of operation. I have found universal replacement regulators at the local Lowe's and Home Depot.
Make sure all t-couple connections are snug tight.

Let me know what you find.

Need parts: pilot assembly and thermocouple

THe thermocouple either has 2 wires or a coppr tube going to the gas valve. They can be bought at a good hardware store or a plumbing supply. The length of the wires or copper tube will be the determining factor as to which one you need. As these thermocouples, when heated generate a small electric charge tha keeps the gas valve open. Should cost no more than $10-15 USD

Seized screws in Stoves 'Range 1000G Gas Range Cooker (LPG)

I let the screws soak for a few days in release oil but with no success. I decided the only way to get the seized screws out was to drill and tap new holes through the hob and into the hob burner mixing tube support flanges. This allowed new screws (stainless as opposed to the standard, chrome plated steel screws) to be screwed into place. Once this was done I then drilled out the heads of the remaining seized screws. This allowed the hob tops to be removed so that the oven thermostats could be changed. The hob screws were then screwed back into place and lubricated with loads of high temp. copper grease to prevent corrosion. I will also remove and re-grease these screws every six months or so to prevent any chance of seizure in future!

A few points to remember: (a) make sure that any holes in the hob top are sealed with something such as a screw coated with high temp fire cement etc. to prevent any possibility of unburnt LPG getting into the space below the hob top. (b) make SURE that you do not drill or tap into anything that could damage the cooker and cause a gas leak or damage any of the gas ignition leads etc. (c) Make sure that the appliance is totally 'gas tight' after doing any work which will disturb the gas connections, and (d) If you don't have gas qualifications and are not sure of what you are doing then get an expert, registered gas engineer to do the work for you. Don't take a chance with gas!!

When I try to light my jenn air gas cook top it clicks but will not light. But it will light with a match

Your electronic ignitor is bad. You can buy a replacement ignitor where you bought your grill. Just about any hardware store will have a replacement ignitor. They are real easy to replace. There is 1 wire to the back of the ignitor. There is a retaining nut on the switch. Remove the switch and replace with new switch. Plug wire into ignitor, Turn gas on and test ignitor.

Berkeley Forge Outdoor Propane Heater Sunrise Model SR1001

I believe the company is out of business but I just got my heater fixed using a local gas service company. Took them a while to find a compatible thermocouple assembly but he found it so there is hope.

The unit works like new now except for the ignitor but not a big deal as it works fine to light the pilot with a lighter.

Cant get the burners to stay lite.

Spiders like to create little hidey webs in the tubes of propane grills and stoves.

Take it apart as much as you can and blow compressed air through all of the holes and apertures. You can either take it to the gas station and us the $.25 air machine or buy a can of compressed air at your computer store.

Gas stove top burners

Make sure nothing is blocking burner tubes and burner tops. All holes need to be free and clear. If that dont work replace your inlet valve were your gas lin goes in.
