I have a Honda push mower with a twin blade. I took the blade off to have it sharpened and I can't remember which blade goes on first. Can you tell me if the more slender blade goes on first or second?

The more slinder blade goes on second. I just looked at mine and it was second or closest to the ground when on all 4 wheels.

Good Luck

Sharpen the blades on both. Dull blades will fold the grass down.

Hi, this may sound stupid but if it was cutting level before and all you have done is sharpened the blades you may have a blade upside down. If you took the deck off you may have a hanger in a wrong hole. Regards Phil

Sharpen the blades, very sharp, and lift the deck one notch from where you normally cut. Some times the blades will get dinged,or the ends of the blades will dull.

Have you tried running it with the blade back on? It may be ok as there is a braking system built into the pto clutch that makes the blades hard to turn by hand. Regards Phil

How do i sharpen cylinder mower blades

I believe you mean to say a 'reel' mower. Normally and old fashoined push (non-engine powered) mower.

Most consumer reel mowers do not need to be sharpened. They do however have a knife bed that occasionally needs to be adjusted. It should have the thickness of a regular piece of notebook paper between the blades and the knife bed. (that is really VERY close) You can buy 'lapping compound' from an automotive parts store, and apply that to the bed knife, and then rotate the blades to provide a precise fit for all blades.

Commercial reel mowers, such as those used on golf course equipment are however sharpened normally once or twice a year. It requireds dismantling, and many courses send their blades to a central location for golf equipment, where they are placed on a computer operated sharpener for precision grinding. This cost several hundreds of dollars just for the grinding.

Riding mower will barely move

Sounds like it time for a tuneup. Air filter changed, Spark plugs replace and oil changed, plus sharpen the blades while you are at it.
