I think i found the actual ink spong (waste ink near full). Right side of Cannon pixma mp 780 close to center track ink thing runs back and forht on!) . Not taking it out but my logic here was if i found it and it is like a sponge why not like mop it up with washcloth (soak ink out so it is more empty. Not sure i really found it but there was good amount ink in washcloth wondering if i , in your best notion did anything?

That is the ink sponge that you found. To clean it you just soak out the ink with a paper towel or washcloth like you have. You can also remove it and run it under hot water if you would like. It will just lift out of the cradle that it is in.

Good Luck

I have Cannon Inkjet Printer Pixma MP150 which is indicating that the ink absorber needs replacing. Can I do this myself? If not please advise of service facilty close to RH19 4ST East Grinstead, West...

The ink absorber is a sponge located under the cartridge head on the right . The warning message is triggered by it and a sensor.
To clean it just unplug the printer, wait 5 minutes, open the front flap and manually move the cartridge head to the left - the sponge will become accessible. Now take your printer to the kitchen sink, put it with that corner down and with a small pipe or whatever spout you have pour warm water over the sponge until it's clean/white. Let the printer drain (shake it to make sure all the water is out) wait another day to be sure all the water inside it has evaporated and start it up again.
To reset the sensor follow this

Ink absorber is full

Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer. They are on the right hand side and are quite small. You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull.Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area. There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dryed and placed again. Be careful and patient. On the MP240 this requires the dismantling of most of the printer. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. On the MP240 the drive motor on the side (Just behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.Carefully replace the holder and the pads. Close printer.Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power.Release the power button.Press the power button again.

"Waste Ink Level Full" appears on my printer,

With this type of Printer you will need to contact Canon and find a near by printer repair center. They should be able to replace the waste ink absorber kit in your printer in about an hours time provided they have the kit on-hand. I would not try to replace it youself due to that fact that theres many parts inside and some printers have timing wheeling inside them.

Ink absorber (sponge part)

There are two possible reasons for an error ink absorber full. First, is the ink absorber pads is actually full of waste ink and needs cleaning. The second is to reset the printer to clear the error and let the printer print again.

Clean the two absorber pads
. Its is actually two absorber pads located on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges when it is in home base position.
How to access the pads and remove it for cleaning?
Turn on the printer. Lift the top cover to expose the ink cartridges. As soon as you lift up the cover the cartridge carrier will move away from its home base.. Then the pads will be exposed. It will be a dirty job so be prepared with your tweezer and extra cloth for some ink spill. Using the tweezer, lift up the pads sitting on a rubber retainer. The pads can be easily clean by placing it under a running water. Warm water will be nice to remove the ink from the pads. After this, you can now return the pads. However, the problem will not be solve especially if you are currently facing the waste ink absorber full error.

Reset the Printer using an MP Tool
Mp Tools are utilities designed to clear errors that will appear in an MP150 printer. Download this MP Tools here.
while the printer is on Run this software
1. Click Reset Main (main) to reset the waste ink counter and
2.
Click Reset Platen button (E27).

If errors still persist.
Press and Hold down Reset button and wait until the printer restart.
Release the Reset button and wait until it fully initialize.

Happy printing.

WASTE INK NEAR FULL mp 780

It means you need the ink absorbers changed, around $20.00, and a shop to reset the counters. It will stop printing when it says the absorber is full.

My Cannon IP 1600 waste ink absorber is full. can you help me?

If when the head is moved to the position for changing carts, I think on the right you may find trays under where the head is parked, normally. Sponge out with cotton buds some of the ink and run a resetter for this machine (Google resetter for Canon ip1600) hope you find it
