According to Nintendo u can try this. 1. push the reset button and if that doesn't work unplug all cords and memory cards (including sd) from wii and unplug av from the wii and the outlet in wall. Wait 2-3 min and then plug it back in. Thats as far as i got because that fixed my problem hope this helps someone!!!

Sounds like you may have an overheating issue. Make sure your system is well ventilated (have plenty of space on all sides). If you still have problems, try buying a cooling fan add-on for your system.
Also, when using component video cables and a WidescreenTV: Go into the Wii's system settings, under Screen, change TV Resolution to HDTV (480p) instead of Standard TV (480i) and change to Widescreen (16:9) under Widescreen Settings.
PS: In order to shut off the system when having problems, try holding the front power button for about 5 to 10 seconds.
