Skipping could indicate you need to use a larger size needle.

Tiny stitches could be save reason, or the top thread is hanging up.

Sometimes the thread can wrap around the spool pin or catch on a rough surface on the end of the spool.

Be sure to use the correct size spool cap and if the thread is wrapping around the pin, a thread net can help.

Give the machine a cleaning according to the maintenance section of the manual for your machine, including cleaning the feed dogs, bobbin case, shuttle and surrounding area.

Make sure the feed dogs are up unless you are free motion quilting and the presser foot down.

This may seem elementary.........just trying to cover all the bases.

How do I stop my Juki DDL-8700 machine from skipping stitches?

set up on quilting table? wheres the oil pan?? if your machine sews fine straight and skips on curves i think you are lifting the presser ft as you make the turn. theres nothing wrong with the machine. you could always change the needle which is always the first thing when you encounter a sewing problem.

I want a longer straight stitch (mine only goes up to 5) on Janome MC 4900, to mimic hand quilting look.

There are several models of machines that do a longer stitch, usually called a basting stitch. Unfortunately, your machine does not have this function. If you are looking for a machine that will give you a hand quilted look, the Baby Lock Sashiko can give you that, though it doesn't do anything else.

My machine is skipping stitches i have dusted it, rethreaded it, changed the needle and still it skips

try these suggestions and see if they help
Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly

I have a Janome Memory Craft 3000 sewing machine. It suddenly started skipping stitches. Now, after cleaning out the lint as well as I could, the machine will not pull the bobbin thread up. Any ideas?

Good day!!!

please apply a some oil on the motor and other moving parts inside you sewing machine..

After that reboot the machine and used it....first try is persisted but when you used it continuously for at least 10 minutes your machine is OK...

How do I quilt on my 9000

Your question is a little vague... Put simply, here is how to make a quilt. Start by putting 2 pieces of material (good sides together) and sew a 1/4 inch seam. Keep on adding pieces until you have a quilt.

Skipped stitches & looping on the bottom of Quilt

Try a different needle. Use a quilting or topstitch or even a metallic needle - one that has a larger scarf than normal. The scarf is the groove at the back of the needle where the thread goes while the stitch is being formed. Quilting threads often need more "room" there. I have been told that the Inspira quilting needles are good because they have a thread groove on the front and the back of the needle. Not tried them personally but might be worthwhile for you to consider.

For the looping, you could fiddle with your tensions a little either loosening the bobbin tension or tightening the top, or both. Only ever do this in very small increments. But the good news is that even the "professional" quilters do not have perfect quilt backs - just have a look at them at quilt shows!

Free motion quilting skipped stitches, breaking threads

Might be that you need to lower the tensions quite a bit, you'll have to juggle with top and bottom tensions though, and experiment for just this operation with the Sensormatic.

Skipped stitches

You will need to take your machine to a dealer and have it adjusted. Machines should be cleaned and serviced at least once a year. Needles should be replaced when dull. Skipping stitches can also be from using the wrong kind of needle. When quilting on cotton, use sharp needles, when sewing on knits use a ball needle. You can use a universal needle but they aren't perfect and will cause skipping on some fabrics.
