Question about Zanussi FJS1225W Front Load Washer
Filter rattleing , wont drain but will spin?
Assuming that by "filter" you mean the bit behind that little door at the bottom on the front of the machine........
The other thing that's in there is the workings of the drain pump. It sounds to me as if something hard has got in there and is stopping the pump from turning properly.
Turn the power off before you start.
Once you've got all the water out, all you'll need to do is to open up, remove the obstruction and (if it's what I expect it is) buy yourself a drink with it. (There is a big round plug behing the little door. Give it a quarter turn and it will pull out. On some machines, you may have to loosen a small locking screw before the front of the plug will turn)
The tricky part of this is getting the water out when the pump isn't working. The best approach is to pull the machine away from the wall. Put a basin on the floor, then remove the drain hose from the standpipe it plugs into and allow the machine to empty by gravity into the basin. When the basin is about half full, lift the hose up to stop the flow and empty the basin before starting again. This way, you can get the majority of the water out of the machine.
There is always going to be a little bit of water left. The safest way to deal with this is to put cloths down to catch what spills, slide a baking tray under the corner of the machine, and crack open the pump/filter cover (closing it again to allow you to empty the baking tray) - repeating until no more water comes out.
An alternative approach to this last bit is to tip the machine backwards, physically remove the drain pump from the machine (while still connected to all the hoses) and then suspend it over the basin while opening it up. If you know what you're doing, this is much quicker and cleaner than the baking tray approach - but you have to be really careful not to get the electrical bits of the pump wet and not to let the machine topple over onto anybody.
