SOURCE: Refrigerator Running Warm
It has a defrost problem. 3 things could be the problem. 1. Defrost thermostat 2. Defrost timer 3. Defrost heater. The timer is in the fridge section in the middle of the console behind the controls. On that console you will see a little hole that will give you access to the timer gear that can be turned clockwise (slowly until it clicks) to put it into defrost. Take the back panel off in the freezer. Once you have put it into defrost see if the defrost heater comes on behind that panel in the freezer. If it comes on then the timer is bad. If the heater doesn't come on then it is most likely the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator behind the freezer panel. It's less likely, but it could be the defrost heater itself but it can easily be tested with an ohm meter for resistance. Any resistance means it's ok. Let me know if you need further assistance. Would appreciate a solved rating for expert advice.

SOURCE: Kenmore 60 series washer
to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged
in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?
Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.

I take the timed approach with appliance problems. If they occur 10 years after purchase, I buy a new one. If five years, I call a repair service and measure the cost of repair against the purchase of a replacement. If one year or less after purchase, I pile the expensive, offending, useless lump of an example of the decline of American workmanship into the back of my pickup and push it out on the doorstep of the store where I purchased it.
I find this method to be the most cost-effective and least troubling. And costs me about the same as calling the repair service.
In fact, right now I'm loading up my Kenmore Elite Oasis 6705, purchased March 13, 2007, (note that the problem began one month AFTER the warranty ran out) in the back of my pickup and I will make at quick stop at Sears to push it off the back of my truck (I find if I don't stop, but keep the truck rolling it makes for a much louder and attention grabbing drop off) then find the nearest hardware store so I can purchase some strong nylon line to string across my backyard so I can dry my clothes. I also purchase a bit of extra line so that I have enough to string up any Sears or Kenmore representatives who might stop by to inquire about the appliance they found on their doorstep.
