Turn off PS3 restart internet if it is wireless it should work but if you are plugged in the DNS needs to be reset if it was on you home computer.

Download the new firmware 2.42 - this will fix your problems.
if it;s not connected to the internet you will need a USB memory stick - follow the instructions here : http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/about/systemupdate

I posted the same thing on a different thread with the same issue..
You may need to manually configure your PS3 connection on the console. Let's see.. I can suggest to first go to your Settings Menu -> Network Settings -> Choose:"Settings and Connection Status List" this will display a pretty detailed information about your connection to your local gateway (router).. Check specifically for Primary and Secondary DNS. In my experience, using the PS3's auto setup for the connection seems to enter the default gateway's ip (labeled "Default Router" on PS3 Status Screen) in place of the real DNS entries..
Question: Sooo how do you check your primary/secondary DNS for your network? Answer: On your PC, open a web browser and enter your default gateway ip into the browser.. log into your router (assistance can be found in your router manual or by calling your router manufacture). You should see a status page of sorts that displays your ISP's primary/secondary DNS entries.. Simply transfer those two IPs to your PS3 manually to correct the DNS issue. To manually configure your Network settings check with the PS3 manual/Support Site/ Call Sony
Hopefully that should resolve your issue!
