I know this sounds stupid ...but some wheel nuts are actually left hand threaded ....perhaps you are turning it the wrong way ??

Don't use WD-40...Use Liquid Wrench, let it soak in for a few hours, Add more throughout the 4 hours, every so often, then if you have a impact wrench, give it a try.If that doesn't work, heat up the lug nuts with a good butane torch and try again. Last but not least use a good lug nut wrench, the one that looks like a cross. Slip a long piece of pipe over the wrench, which, depending how long the piece of pipe is will give you the leverage you need to break free the nuts....Don't do the propane method unless the other two options don't work

Good Luck,

Will a 3/8 in drive breaker bar take off a car lug nut?

If the lug nuts are as tight as you say I don't think a 3/8 drive will work. I even ruined a half inch drive by putting a pipe on it. Sears did replace it because it was Craftsman make. Are you near a Canadian Tire store as they usually have Master craft make which is life time guarantee as well.

I just can't get that axle nut off the front wheel bearing of my 1998 dodge ram 1500. Iv'e tried everything. What can I do?

If you don't have an impact wrench, you have to stand on it, literally.
The factory uses 75-100 ft lbs of torque to put it on, twice as much as lug nuts.

How do I determine how much torque my impact wrench makes?

I test my impact wrench on a good vice and with a high grade steel nut/ washers and bolt that can take high torque. Select bolt with thread almost to the head. Hold head of bolt on solid vice and place two washers(more if needed to reach into threaded area) and nut on bolt. Set air pressure to max (I have 125psi). Run nut against bolt head with impact. Remove nut with torque wrench for reading. This low tech method will give you a rough idea. Higher pressure may give you better result. If you have used your air wrench for a while. Clean by adding diesel fuel into air fitting. Little at at time until diesel comes out rather clean. Then add a few drops of oil. Then test again. Good luck.

A worker had a nut stuck inside the socket of a dewalt impact tool. The nut had a buildup of paint and got stuck on a regular basis. he put his finger in and accidentally pulled the trigger causing the nut...

#1... before attempting to remove the nut, unplug the wrench. #2 .... thread a bolt into the nut, and wiggle the hell out of it with pliers. Easy.

Dont know the torque of the air hammer lol im using a Bluepoint 1/2 impact wrench im goin to drill the nut in certain places to weaken it.

Why the hell are u using a 1/2" dve impact gun on your bike, Motor bikes are assembled back together and every thing slides back into place, then torqued to the recomened settings, take that 1/2" impact wrench and leave it in the car or truck garage, and do not use it again on your bike, unless you want to ruin it!!!!

BMW 318I front wheel nut

Stop by any tire shop and ask them to loosen them up for you and then put them on with a torque wrench. Someone has used an impact gun to put them on and you will need one to remove them. Most tire shops will do this for free.

Wrench support

impact wrenches are often misused by those who don’t know about their special needs. First of all, it is very important to be careful when tightening a nut or bolt with an impact wrench! Cross threading can occur very easily; a novice may also over-torque a bolt or a nut if they don’t know when to stop. To prevent such problems, always be sure to hand-tighten every nut or bolt before using the impact wrench; if you try to start the nut or bolt with the impact wrench, you won’t be able to feel if the threads are crossed. If the impact wrench is not torque controlled – meaning it will stop when the nut or bolt is tightened to a certain torque – you will need to go slowly, and periodically check the torque value of the nut or bolt to make sure you haven’t tightened it too far.
