Question about Intuit QuickBooks Premier: Accountant Edition 2003 (275957) for PC

1 Answer

Printing statements Ok, I print my monthly statements on an original postcard to save on the cost of postage for our small business. We have to raise our rates and I simply wanted to print a message explaining our rate change on the back of the postcard/statement. I can't find how to do that anywhere, or if it's even possible. Help? Thanks, Melissa

I don't think that is a possibility with the program.

4 Simple Cost Saving Tips for Sharp and other brand Copiers/Printers

With the new year just around the corner everyone has goals in mind. Goals for themselves, and goals for their businesses to achieve. Goal #1 for most businesses is to reduce their operations costs and save money. The less money they spend on office supplies and printers the more they can reinvest into the business, or use for team building activities or parties. Here are some simple tips to save money around the office.
  1. Paper is expensive and eats up a lot of the office supply budget. Simply defaulting your print driver to print 2-sided will save you lots of money in the long run. Not only will it save money on the paper itself, it will half the time spent reloading paper in your copier(everyone's favorite thing to do! /sarcasm). Not to mention it's environmentally friendly. Who doesn't like being green? It's so easy to make this adjustment!
  2. Color printing is another bulky line item on the printer costs worksheet. Another simple change in your print driver settings can default your color printer to print in B&W. Whether you buy toner/ink outright, or you have a maintenance contract which includes your toner, this will save your office a TON of money. Personally, when I install print drivers on a customer's computer I always default it print B&W unless specifically told to leave it on automatic color.

3. Don't print that document unless you NEED a hard copy of it. I know this sounds like strange advice from a guy who makes his living from copiers and copies being made, but this is another initiative of most companies trying to "go paperless." While most of them slightly reduce their printing volume, they will NEVER be paperless, no matter how hard they try. Use programs like Adobe Acrobat, or the free PrimoPDF to convert your files to searchable PDFs and archive them for retrieval. If you want to use your copier to start storing your hard-copy documents in a searchable PDF take advantage of Sharp's OSA platform in conjunction with Drivve Image to make it a 1-2-3 operation. This is a very inexpensive system that works like magic.
Get rid of your inkjet and small desktop laser printers. I always hear about the guys/gals who throwaway their printer and go buy another one when the ink runs out, because "it's cheaper than replacing the ink." This reasoning is ridiculous! What nobody tells these people is that they can lease an office copier AND have an all inclusive maintenance and toner contract for LESS THAN THEY SPEND ON INK for their Office Depot junk printer. New small businesses in particular are guilty of this. In a monetary break-even scenario the obvious choice should be the option that saves you time. Time is money.
If you're in Houston I'd be happy to come to your office and do a quick "printing audit" to see if I can save you money. Odds are I can. Let's start a business relationship. Contact me today to schedule a print audit

How Many Bank Statements Do I Have To Bring In For Business Loan?

In order to get business loan, you must provide your bank statements from the last three months. In case you do not have these, it's suggested that you visit your local bank branch and ask for print outs of your recent transactions from the last three months.

What's the best paper to use in printing postcards?

I've been printing postcards for like five years now. And based on my experience, the best way to go about that is to print postcards using sturdy cardboard stocks coated on both sides for a high-gloss surface. This medium is best for shipping and for advertising purposes.

I need to print 6"x11" postcards with some protective coating on it?

From what I know, most digital printers can't do that. Digital printing requires heat that may damage the coating. If you want, you can just buy ready to use papers with coating from the store and print them using your digital printer. But the other way to go about is to print postcards from a reliable printing company like PritnRunner. They do postcards using matte aqueous coating that protects your print from smudges and fingerprints. Here's their site:

My printer won't work. It keeps on rejecting the papers. I'm a bit tired of fixing it all the time so I'm considering to just ask some companies for their postcard printing services. Do yo

Yes, I think that's a better idea.. depending on how many you need, because the cost of your ink in your printer, may be alot more than actually getting them printed professionally by a printing company.
It would all depend on how many you need.

Original Vs Compatible Ink Cartridges - Which is Better?

If you will be printing large numbers of documents and other files then compatibles make good financial decision.
Compatibles are cheaper than originals. However you should check that you are getting good quality compatible ink cartridges.
As long as you are printing at least once a week then compatibles will serve you well without problem. To keep your printer in tiptop condition you should swap for an original cartridge once in a few months. This may seem like a foolish idea when you are saving money, but an original cartridge will help clean your print head and keep your machine working optimally.
If left for a long time ink can dry out in the cartridge and on the print head causing damage. Original ink usually has extra chemicals and agents to prevent this from happening. As you are likely to have to buy a new compatible cartridge if this happens any cost saving you achieved lost immediately.

Statements in QuickBooks

If you do not want your statements to reflect any payments, go to the top of your tool bar, click on Edit, go down to "Preferences", find the "Sales and Customers", go to "Company Preferences", and at the bottom you have the option to "Automaticly apply Payments", make sure that is not checked.

If this helps, please rate me. Thanks, Patty

Word Settings for Printing Postcards

I found the fix!! Once you have your size settings typed into your page layout screen and applied to the document, click print. Once you select your printer, click on properties (or printer preferences) click on the features tab (the tab next to printing shortcuts) and go to the resizing options section. click on paper size bar and scroll down to custom. once in the screen, give the shortcut a name you'll recognize, type in your dimensions in the provided spaces click save. once you go back to the features screen, scroll back down to custom and select your shortcut that you just created and apply it to both the paper type and paper size. click ok and go back and click ok to print! Hope this makes sense..if not, go to HP's website and type in your product name, type paper mismatch in the keyword search bar and click ont the first link in the found section. It will give you the same step by step instructions....
