Question about Iomega StorCenter (33275) 250 GB

1 Answer

Problem: My Iomega NAS (250 gb. Raid) is recognized by my pc (Vista) but the capacity bar is complety red. When opening the network location is gives an empty folder. Within the Iomega discovery tool it reads Total disc space 0gb, Used space 0gb, Free space 0gb. The led on the NAS keeps blinking (3 times red, 3 times blue) Via the Iomega discovery tool I can shut off the NAS so it looks controllable but I can't get to my data. It suppose to store in Raid (2x250gb)

Upgrading your Iomega P400U

I was trying to upgrade the capacity of the NAS by adding 320 gb hard drives. I kept running into problems with the bios not supporting the drives and not finding drivers for the system. I came across an Open Source program called FreeNas that solved all the problems. It works great.

HOW TO REST IOMEGA IP HARD DISK

I'm not sure if you are saying to reset the IP of your device or not. But if you are asking how to reset the IP of your device. You can't. You device would have to have network capabilities which this drive does not. It's a desktop hard drive, not a NAS.

Different RAID configuration?

Hi,

The first point to note is that this unit does not support more than 1.6TB total disk. (4 x 400GB drives) This is stated in the manual which is on the CD that came with the unit. You cannot configure a mix of RAID1 and Linear (JBOD) drives, so you plan will not work.

Hard drives freezing up

Damaged drive controller on HDD a possibility. Pull drive and test as a slave to rule out a bad RAID controller. Let me know if the drive is failing under SMART setting in system BIOS upon boot.
