Some slippery material has deposited on the motor pulley. Clean it with a abrasive paper lightly. Also the inner side of the belt which comes in contact with pulley with light abrasive paper. Also make sure the belt is tight so that it can grip the pulley. If all this fails, it means the belt has become loose over prolonged use and requires replacement.

Has the belt come off the pulley or the motor pulley? If not and it is in good condition has the belt stretched and not connecting properly or the motor slipped making the belt loose? Has the main pulley bolt come loose?

Drum wont go around or spin its not the belt as its still on

Try turning the drum by hand to see if it is not the bearings that have siezed, If the drum turns see if the belt is not too slack and is slipping. with the back removed and the motor running, watch the operation and see if you can detect the problem, like a loose pulley or slipping clutch etc.

Hello- A little odd. It sounds to me like the belt is slipping. Sometimes they get stretched out enough that there is not enough pressure on the idler pulley for it to make good contact with the motor pulley. The Idler pulley may be broken as well or the belt has slipped off of it. Another possibility is that the belt has slipped off the motor pulley and is not being driven by the motor. You, or someone, really need to open it and see how the components look when it is on, if possible.

Does not spin with load in drum spins fine empty

Hi,
You don't mention the make or model, but this sounds like a belt driven drum with a worn belt that slips when there's a load in it.
You need to take off the cover to see if the belt is slipping on the drum or motor pulley when under load.

Best wishes,
Graemevm

Heating but drum does not turn

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley. If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine. Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum. Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn. While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them. I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

The drum does not spin, the blower works, the gas will fire up, belts look to be in tact but may be loose?

Most gas dryers have a tensioner on the drive belt under the drum a metal bar with a teflon pully that is spring loaded to tension the belt. Try spining the drum by hand if it spins freely the belt may have come off the tensioner or it may be streched. If it doesn't turn the drum rollers or bushing may be bad. Without a make and moddel # it's hard to say
Hope this helps

Washer won't spin. Belt is slipping. Tub is stuck.

The belt sounds worn out since its slipping. Change it out. Its cheap fix.

The drum brake does just what is sounds like. brakes the drum. For instance when u open the lid during a cycle and everything stops thats the drum engaging and stops the movement of teh drum. If the brake is malfunctioning two things will happen, you open the lid (assuming the safety switch is still good) or the drum will not spin at all.
