Frigidaire front load washe makes an awful noise when water starts to drain

Yes normally remove the bottom panel and the pump is in the front on the right side. Some companies recommend you clean it every few months. Also some will let out water when you open it up, so have a towel ready.

This washer is easy as heck to repair. Don't be scared to repair this washer.
You could have a broken brake cam driver.themobilian_1662.jpg To inspect it you remove the agitator and drop the Tranny. Hay you already had the motor and pump off there so 4 more bolts (3 for the tranny and 1 for the agitator) Slide out the tranny and check the brake cam actuator. The little ear on it breaks off and won't release the brake. The part is held with a small easy to remove C clip. The next thing to do is remove the clutch and tranny cover. Inspect the main drive gear and pinion.themobilian_1663.jpg
If that seems to be good remove the main drive gear and look for a smashed down spin pawl.themobilian_1664.jpgthemobilian_1665.jpgUnder that main drive gear is 3 spin bosses. over time the spin pawl takes a beating catching the boss as the neutral pack pauses from pump out to spin. themobilian_1666.jpgThis is the flip side of the main drive gear. Note the 3 notches. These are claeed bosses. Older model washers would spin and drain at the same time. Newer washers will allow the water to be pumped out first by keeping the spin pawl in check. A built-in pause allows the cent force to toss out the spin pawl where is can catch a boss and take off like Moody's goose in a tailwind. Nothing is hard about repairing this washer. The water inlet valve may be what's making the noise. It's where the water supply connects to the washer. It has a solenoid which opens the valve for water to come in. It makes a noise when it's open letting water in. There is also a mesh screen filter in each hose where it connects. You have a hot and a cold valve which open together for warm. Do you get water when you select warm or cold.

What would make my washing machine leak water and make a funny noise?

this sounds like the main bearings have worn out (they start to rumble first) when they start to brake up they rip apart the water seals that are between them and the back of the washers drum, and then it starts to leak water, to test them to see if there claped out,,,, open the door and try lifting the top of the drum lightly , if it lifts a bit then drops back when you let go its the bearings going, now spin it by hand and you will here a rumbleing noise or grinding noise, when the washer is running on spin it will sound like the end of the world is coming???? im sorry to tell you this part is not cheep to fix, its 2-3 hours work?

The water in my stacked washer is coming out VERY VERY slow. It is also making a humming noise at the same time. What could this be??

does it do it on hot, cold warm?,do a test, put it on hot only see what its does, put it on cold only see what it does,if one side of the water valve works ok and the other does not you need to replace the water inlet valve as it is not opening all the way, thats the sound you hear-mike

Noise in my washer while agitating

Maytag have had some problems with the bases of the unit. If you open the lid and it is leaning to the right this is the problem. You have to change the base of the unit and the springs that come with it. This is the only correct fix, but is a costly one.

Crunching and grinding

That noise come from the pump that drived the water out the drum. Since you don't have this noise every time, it's seems like it's cause an unclean filter issue. Cleaning the filter - should solve this issue. Before openning the filter, prepare a bowl and a floor cloth to avoid water's flooding. Good luck !
