Question about Canon SmartBase MP390 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer Problem I recently changed the black cartridge on my printer following a prompt on the system indicating it was low. It is no longer printing anything in black ink, even though the cartridge has been replaced. I have also replaced the new cartridge with another and it is still not printing anything in black. The colour printing is still functioning ok. Any ideas please?

    I have the exact same problem! I have tried blowing thru the little hole in the to of the cartridge but it didnt make any difference.

    I'm having exactly the same problem. I've tried 3 different brand new cartridges as well as cleaning the print head. The troubleshooting section of the manual says nothing about problems of this nature.

Hello Dear,
The nozzles of the print head are jammed. you can try this take about 50 ml of luke warm water (please ensure that the temperature of the water is not too high as it may spoil the print head physically) in a small flat base dish and keep the print head in it (only the bottom part the nozzles should be dipped and not the green circuit chip) for about 30-40 minutes there are about 40% chances of print head recovery, if this solves your problem them its ok or you have to purchase a new Print Head for your printer.
Warm Regards,

Recently when printing my document in black color. The black color is not black enough. Please help my. Thank you.

You have not indicated which brand printer you are using? Anyway this could be problem of setting OR your ink in the cartridge is finished. Do the following: Go to Printer and Faxes in Control Panel Right click on the printer in use. Click on Properties in the displayed menu. Go to Printing Preferences. Select Grey scale/Black in the check boxes. Try printing again. If it still does not solve your problem. Go to Properties again and press Maintenance Tab. Clean the print head and the nozzles. Try Printing again. If still it does not solve your problem I am afraid you have to change the ink cartridge.

Replaced black toner..now printer won't print any

In this case, actually it is not the Black toner that got depleted. Here the message being displayed indicate that one of the color Toner supply need to be replaced as it got depleted and currently the printer is printing in Black and white using the Black toner cartridge.

in this case, to troubleshoot these issues please try performing the following and check for the results.

* 1. Check for the level of the toner cartridges:

a) Check from the HP Toolbox application. Here are the steps to be performed from your PC:

* Access the Toolbox software.
* Select the Status tab.
* Select the Device status option.

Here you can check for the supplies status in terms of the % remaining for each toner cartridges.

b) By checking the supplies status from the printer control panel display.

On the printer display when printer is in Ready mode the supplies status can be checked from the supplies level indicator. Each toner cartridge and the Imaging drum level will be indicated by a bar which varies according to the level of the supplies present.

c) Print the supplies status page from the printer.

* On the printer control panel menu, press Menu .
* Use the (Right Arrow) button to select Reports, and then press Enter .
* Use the (Right Arrow) button to select Supplies Status, and then press Enter .

If any of the color toner cartridges and the Imaging drum have a low supply level replace them with genuine HP print cartridges.

The part numbers of the consumables are as follows:

* Black print cartridge - Q3960A
* Cyan print cartridge - Q3971A
* Magenta print cartridge - Q3973A
* Yellow print cartridge - Q3972A
* Imaging Drum - Q3964A

Printer Always Indicates Ink is Low or Cartridge is Incorrect

To get rid of the low ink warnings google the specific error message with 'ink refill' and look for 'engineers reset' or similar ..

NB. Dell printers (re-badged Lexmarks) are notorious for ink usage and high costs .. so my best recommendation would be to throw it away and purchase something else ..

Brand New Printer

Hi Teetle, No, it not normal to only get two pages per cartridge. I would try the following before contacting Epson tech support: -Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on both the printer and cartridge. -Reinsert each cartridge making sure it is seated correctly. -Buy one black cartridge and install. It is possible that the cartridge is defective but since the magenta cartridge is showing low its unlikely. Tech support will want you to try it before they will replace the printer so you?re best off trying it now. If after trying this steps there is no change and if you?ve had it for less than 7 days I would talk to your retail store. Usually they will just trade your defective unit for one in stock. If you have had it longer contact Epson support and explain what it happening and what you?ve done. Make sure you mention you?ve bought a new Epson black cartridge with no change. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.

Colour printing

Check the following thread, it might apply to your problem. and just as a printer can be fooled to show a low level ink, I guess it can happen the other way around. http://www.fixya.com/problems-solutions/t103191,p342983/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R300-InkJet-Printer.aspx Good luck
