Hi Grumpy Gran
Great name by the way. Are they listed top to bottom ` a two headed arrow, caps lock, an up arrow and ctrl?
These are not particular active keys. If you have used a typewriter the two headed arrow is the tab key, use it to jump a given number of spaces to the right.
The caps lock will set your keyboard in capitals mode. The uparrow is the shift key which temporarily puts it into capitals or vice-versa. The ctrl key is a special key which is not used in normal typing. You may not need it in normal use.
Good luck with your surfing.
ps its not a good idea to unplug your keyboard whilst the computer is still on. You should connect it when the computer is off so that it is detected when the computer starts.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I am trying to use a new Logitech USB desktop microphone with my Mac OS X version 10.4.11. It seems to be working beecause the screen icon fluctuates when I speak, but I cannot find a way to record...

please keep the microphone a bit away from ur screen... its because, powerful electro magnets will be ther in the microphone... wen u keep it very close to the screen, the waves cause the fluctuation in the screen which wil shorten the life off ur screen

How to troubleshoot keyboard issues?

Summary:
Keyboard issues are relatively easy to troubleshoot. If the cu has another keyboard available then try that keyboard or if the cu has another system avaialble then test the keyboard on that system. Remember when the keyboard is unplugged the system will usually need to be rebooted before it will work again.
Wireless Keyboard:
If only some of the keys don't work skip to the section Some Keys Don't Work below.

Resynchronize the keyboard. Press the connect button on the keyboard for 5 seconds. Then press the connect button on the receiver for 5 seconds
Change the batteries.
Try reseating the receiver if possible.
Try positioning the keyboard closer to the receiver.
Skip to the section Generic Troubleshooting below.

Some Keys Don't Work:

Check if any of the num lock key, shift lock key, etc are causing the issue. This is especially prevalent on laptops which don't have a distinct numeric keypad.
If it's only the multimedia or hotkeys that don't work then try installing the specialized multimedia keyboard software that came with the system/keyboard.
Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting.
Go into Accessibility Options in Control Panel and check that Sticky Keys, Filter Keys and Toggle Keys are all switched off.
Check if the problem occurs in the BIOS. A good screen to test with is the create BIOS password screen if the keys don't work here then a new keyboard is in order.
Continue on to Generic Troubleshooting.

No Keys Work:

Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting.
Try power draining the system. This can be particularly effecitive with a laptop.
If this is USB try a different port.
Try entering BIOS - if you cannot get into BIOS then the keyboard probably needs to be replaced.
Go on to Generic Troubleshooting below.

Generic Troubleshooting:

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver and reboot
Try system restore back to before the problem occurred
Check for malware or 3rd party software that may be interfering with the function of the keyboard.
FFR or replace/upsell a new keyboard.

My wife has an HP Desktop using Windows 7 and email client of ATT and Yahoo

This may work for you: Along the top of Yahoo email, you will see buttons Delete, Reply, etc. There is a button in the row with 3 rectangles and a drop down arrow. click on the button and change the setting to "Page by Page (classic". After Yahoo email resets, go in and select the button again to get the style you want.

Another approach may be to sign out of yahoo email, restart the web browser and see if the problem is resolved.

Keyboard stopped working

Hi there.
Firstly check the battery compartment for any leakage from the batteries while you was away, if there is leakage clean it off and reinsert the new batteries.
If there is no leakage insert the batteries.
Now, does your mouse have a docking station? I am guessing you have because it sounds like your keyboard is wireless.
There should be a connect button on the mouse docking station, if there is press it and hit the connect button on the keyboard and then hit the space bar, hopefully your problem will be solved.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
