SOURCE: Where can I purchase a bobbin for the Mighty Mender W100 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Well, here's an easy fix. It is either a class 15 or class 66. I would go to a local repair shop with your machine and they can try either of them . They are not real expensive.

Does it matter which way bobbin is inserted into casing?

Yes it does matter for most sewing machines. On most machines, the thread should come off the bobbin counter-clockwise. (Thus if the thread is coming off the top of the bobbin as you look at it, it should be going to the left.) This applies to all of the regular* sewing machines that I have used, including Husqvarna Viking, Singer, Brother. It may not apply to mini-menders.

I hope this helps.

(*My definition of regular sewing machines excludes sergers and long-arm quilting machines. Sergers don't use a bobbin. I just don't know enough about threading the long-arm quilting machines.)

Bobbin holder doesn't spin

Be really sure that the thread is threaded properly. Correct size needle for the material, and no cheaper thread. It does make a difference.
