while attempting to power up, the garmin logo comes on-it says loading maps-then goes dark and recycles-over and over and over-never loads. I tried connecting via usb but the unit can't be recognized because it can't get out of the loop

Common problem caused by a failed map or firmware update...or both.

Corrupted map or firmware files prevents the unit from booting normally. More info on boot-up problems here:

Garmin Nuvi 755t Stuck in power up cycle

You can do two things.

First, plug the GPS in overnight in a regular USB charger. If the battery charges up, then the problem is with your Garmin vehicle cable.

If it does not charge up, you can buy a battery replacement kit for it: https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Nuvi-755-Replacement-Installation/dp/B003VFSR4M

Deleted my garmin nuvi 1300 preloaded maps by accident and don't know how to get them back

I believe the only way to delete them is if it was connected to your computer. If so and the map is in your recycle bin you can just connect the Garmin back up to your computer a go into the recycle bin and hit restore. If that is not possible and the unit is new you can try a map update from the Garmin site, or try contacting them an explain the situation. I will attach the links for you. Thanks for using FixYa.

Can I update the map.

Garmin's policy for most of its nuvi GPS units is to allow you one free map upgrade. For example, I bought a Nuvi 755T in December and their policy said:
The n?Maps Guarantee entitles you to 1 or more free map updates within 60 days of Dec 06, 2010.
Some Nuvi models come with lifetime free map upgrades, these models have "LM" or "LMT" at the end of their model number.

Garmin 755T - Same Problem

Have you tried a complete reset? If not this is what you do. Turn on the Garmin at the same time press the bottom right hand corner of the screen. this will return it to factory standard, but it will wipe out any information you may have stored on it.

Garmin 755T Issue - Firmware Update and acquiring satellite

Hi Bob,
You need to do a complete reset by turning it on and at the same time press the bottom right hand corner of the screen this will reset it to factory condition. having done that when you switch it on again leave some where where it has a clear view of the sky and leave it for about 1/2 an hour. This should sort it out for you. Best of luck.

My garmin 755t power on stop working!!!

HI, same problem. I bought my 755t just over a month ago. I found a solution on this site.
U can opt to have garmin fix it (who knows how long it may take?) or if you are handy, there are 2 little screws at the back of the 755 remove them and pry the back cover open. Just be very careful not to disturb the wires too much. Disconnect the battery and reconnect it 10 or 15 minutes later. That's all. Close the cover and replace the 2 screws. Install latest software I think it is version 3.60.

There is software bug that comes up randomly and sets the unit into an update loop that is with version 3.40 on a certain day of the year. I think on the longest day of the year. Anyhow, I fixed mine 3 days ago it works flawlessly.
