Thank you. This is the information I needed. So, there is no way to set the tension?

To access it, the rear panel must be taken off. If you are asking how the belt is removed from the pulley, pull the belt firmly towards you and rotate the large pulley with your other hand, being careful not to pinch your fingers that are gripping the belt. Do this until the belt is unseated from the grooved pulley.

Hello, It should be relatively easy. Turn off the circuit breaker at your home service panel first, but leave the unit plugged into the outlet to insure it remains "grounded" as these are very vulnerable to "ESD" or "elecro-static discharge". Unplug it ONLY if you are grounded or not sure of which breaker but make sure you are discharged of any static. ( wear a grounding strap is recommended ) I'd hate to see you injured or repairing electronic boards etc. Now you can remove the back panel and spin the belt off as you turn the large pulley ( for the basket & not the motor, this gives you the mechanical advantage ) as you would a bicycle chain. Be careful not to pinch you skin/fingers. Let me know how you make out or if you require further assistance. Please take second to rate the instructions accordingly. Thank you for visiting "fixya" for you repair inquiry and good luck. Macmarkus :)

    Hello again,

On the "WFK" models there is no tension-er or adjustment, the belt is built to spec to fit tight. If it seems loose it is stretched and needs to be replaced.

hope that help's move you forward. Let me know how it goes or if you need any further assistance.

Also, If you'd like a complete repair manual in "pdf" format I can send it to you but I'd require an email address. It is actually for the "WFL" & "WFR" generation machine, but the drive system is pretty much unchanged, as is the rest of it and It is 6.88MB in size.

Let me know and Good luck

With the back panel off, pull the belt towards you whilst spinning the large pulley. Be careful not to pinch your fingers. Keep doing this until the belt gradually moves over and off of the large pulley. It goes on the same way. Sorry if this is a double post.

Bosch wfk 2401 drive belt slipping

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
If you are certain that it is a belt problem and not a motor one, you need to purchase a replacement belt (the same applies if it IS a motor problem- change the belt at the same time!)
Belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!

If it turns out to be the motor, it is false economy to just have the brushes changed although financially very attractive. Experience of others is that the brushes may only last months unless, that is, the motor is totally refurbished at the same time. It depends on how old the motor is and how much wear the commutator has had. New motors are not cheap, though. Ours for a Bosch cost GBP250- but it's your choice!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a Bosch washer, model number WFK 2401 that washes and rinses, but suddenly won't spin. It just sits and counts down until the end of the spin cycle and then signals the end of the wash cycle as...

I just had the same problem last week Aug 1 2009
on our WFK 2401 purchased in 2001

If you hear no motor spinning when it should then it's something
with the motor. If you hear motor spinning, esp spin cycle, but
the drum doesn't spin, then probably broken belt ($30 part).

Since I work on cars (this is very much like an alternator+belt) and wanted to avoid a $100 service call (just to come to house) and
at least try for a quick fix before buying a new washer, I opened the back, confirmed belt looked ok, so tried
replacing the brushes in the motor, and it worked.

For a good description on how to do this see
http://dossy.org/2007/05/lots-of-miles-on-our-bosch-wfk2401uc-washer-motor/
I took some pics, and time permitting will post more details
to this dossy site to help fellow owners.
I purchased the brushes at partstap.com for $50 (incl tax+ship)

Installing carbon brushes on Bosch WFK 2401

Remove rear panel of washer.
Remove drive belt.
Unscrew the 2 bolts that hold motor to tub back.
Remove motor plug
Lever notor back with a screwdriver or similar, keeping a firm hold on motor.and remove motor
At the rear end of motor away from pulley you will see the brushes and the armature.
Remove brushes, and if there is less than 4 or 5mm of carbon left, then replace them.
Lightly clean the armature with emery cloth.
Refit in reverse order. Test.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
