Kenwood KAC-9152D monoblock

I have a Complete Kenwood system in my car but having problems with Kenwood KAC-9152D 1800 w monoblock - I have 2 x 12" DVC 1500W on it and and if I connect them for 4 ohm DVC set up to 2 ohm amp load. 4 ohm I dont get DVC bass because my old SVC 12" 500 W pumped like mad (On sub NEG to NEG then neg to amp NEG and the POS to POS on sub and then to POS on amp) got it from website 12 Volts. It plays hard and best bass but it kicks out and stays of for a few seconds then comes back and pump for 30 sec and off again. I do have a CAP 1.5 F and 4 gauge from pos and battery and ground also 4 gauge bolted in to body with paint sanded of. One thing I cant understand is how does the amp know when it is 2 ohm or 4 ohms

The amp says it's 1 ohm stable, so assuming the DVCs are dual 4 ohm, you should be able to connect all "+"'s together and all "-"s together, like the picture below:

As for the amp shutting off for a few seconds, it sounds like it's either:
A) Not getting enough power at high volume.
OR
B) Overheating.

The cap on the +12V to the amp should help, but putting a meter on the +12V might tell you whether it's dropping too low (<11V).

When you first turn the volume up, how long does it work fine before shutting off? Is it with the vehicle running or not?

I have a kenwood kac-9152d running a 10 inch rockford fosgate power t1 and the amp keeps going into protect but i have a smaller kenwood kac-8102d running on another t1 and i have no issues with it why...

either the wiring your running is short circuting,or the amp is shot, or the subwoofer is shot, try hooking the same speaker up to the other amp. along with the other speaker to the other amp, see if the same thing happens.

I have a kenwood kac-9152d amp i fried it opened it and the inner ground wire was fried in half now it just blows my fuses????

Dang! That's a class D anp! How did you fry it? If you "replaced" the internal ground wire and now it just blows fuses, I would say that the amp is direct shorted at the power supply if the fusesblow instantly when you put the fuses in.

I need help

Most of the time if the red light is on the amp is no blown but some times it does this cause the subs are hooked up in the wrong way. If the amp is only 2ohm stable and you hook the subs up to it at 1 ohm than the amp will not work so I would check this frist.

There could be several problems. The following page should help you determine if you have a problem with the amp or something connected to the amp.

Usually, protection mode is caused by one of these conditions:
  • Shorted speaker outputs.
  • Speaker output shorted to ground.
  • There is an internal issue, causing DC voltage to be present on the speaker outputs.
  • Amp overheats.
  • Ground connection is insufficient for amp or HU.
I'm not sure of the history or symptoms of your amp, but those are the reasons why the amp could go into protection mode.
